Instead of rating E Toys, how about rating the toy? I would like to buy one, but out of seven reviews, all I know is not to buy from E Toys. And this product now has a hugely negative rating when the supplier is the problem. I appreciate hearing about a bad store, but please use this format for rating the product.
Update 9/11/08:
I purchased this for my soon to be 7-year old from Target (thanks for Etoys reviews--I purchased locally.) We purchased this because my son is very timid on a traditional bike. He just loves the low center of gravity. He has ridden this toy for more hours and has had more fun than in the two years he has had a two-wheeler. He even does donuts! It has really boosted his confidence. Not to mention the admiring looks and comments from other kids and adults. One more detail: he is 51" tall and is using the seat in the first position, so if your child is shorter than Ian, he/she might not be able to pedal.

I bought my 6 year old daughter the pink version of this bike for Christmas (the pink is not available at this time on Amazon). She is not the most coordinated child and gets frustrated if she is not good at something right from the get go. I wasn't sure how she would do with the hand brake and the odd way of steering (pull back the left handle to turn left, pull back right handle to turn right). Within minutes she was a pro at using this bike. Today the snow had melted on the road so we walked while she took it for a ride around the neighborhood. She had a blast and never complained even when it started to rain. She just wants to ride it more and more. Her seat is all the way to the front of the bike (and she's tall for her age) so she will have many years to enjoyment with this product. My husband said it is the best quality toy that was received this year. It's not a throw away. You can't go wrong with this product for a young child.Customer Review: Noisy, and built for taller kids! But my 5-year-old loves it!!

So we bought this for my 5-year-old's birthday after he rode an older friend's. So we knew he would fit it. He loves to go down the sidewalk, turn around at the neighbor's driveway, come back and then spin out in our driveway. It's super noisy, so we only let him drive it at reasonable hours for the neighbors' sake.
My son is well-above average in height, in fact taller than a lot of six-year-olds we know. Even so, he has to lean way back to reach the pedals but he does great. And, he will have many years of use as he continues to grow the seat moves back.
And/but like other reviewers say, if you kid is small or average in height, I'd be very careful ordering this for a Christmas or birthday surprise for your 5-7 year old child, even though it says "five and up." Wouldn't want to have a disappointed kid with a toy they can't use...

A quote from my 11 year old daughter. My 7 year old daughter also shares that sentiment. I had a Green Machine when I was a kid (all plastic back then, steel tubular design now) and loved it so I thought my girls would too. The things that are really impressive about it include: the price ($99) for a "bike" is great, its steel tubular design for the main support and handles, the rubber wheel makes starting much easier than a traditional hard plastic one, the hand break is a nice feature, and of course the fact that its rated to 1801bs which means I can enjoy it. I also haven't seen one since I was a kid around town so I'm pretty sure my kids are part of a very small group that own it, although now all the neighbours with kids are talking about it too, so...Customer Review: The Green Machine Rocks

Bought this retro Green Machine for my daughter's 8th birthday. It was surprisingly easy to setup and riding it is a blast (yes I had to try it too and at 168 lbs, it handled me). A couple of pleasant upgrades from what I remember of the original back in the day. There is more metal, the front tire is no longer plastic, but similar to an inflatable bicycle tire. It only goes forwared and free spins when petaling backwards (improved safety) and the break is now located on the right shifter stick as opposed to the old school brake by the rear tire. All and all a great well put together product that should see years of fun times. Great excerise for children in this day and age of motorized scooters and such. Very durable. Easy seat adjustment.
