I bought this watch in 2006 and wear it every day. I've changed the battery once during this time. The altimeter is good for day hikes--changes in barometric pressure make it unreliable day to day, but the numbers are large and easy to read attached to my belt loop. It made it through the washer, except that the clasp broke off where it attaches to the body of the watch. The bezel got scratched leaning up against granite countertops. So, I'm buying another.
I've never had a problem with the clasp until it went through the washer, and the alarms work fine. Not hard to program once you read through the directions. The thermometer is slow and tends to read my body temperature. But what do you want for $140?

Highgear Altitech features digital altimeter that measures in 1ft (1m) increments with a working range from -2296 ft to 29,500 ft. Stores 20 altimeter data readings, and accumulated and maximum altitude reading. Additional features include digital barometer, sea level barometer reading, barometer pressure graph, and weather forecast. Also digital compass with 1 degree resolution and 16 direction pointers, leveling bubble for increased accuracy, and adjustable declination. Digital thermometer with 0.1 degree resolution and working range from -4 degrees F to 158 degrees F. Time with hour, minute, second, month, date and weekday. User option for 12/24 hour format, 2 time zones, Auto calendar, Alarm, Chronograph and Backlight. Carabineer style clip.Accessories
