I purchased this as a gift for my parents. The only disappointing feature is the flashlight. You have to hold the button for it to stay on. Other than that, it's great. I would recommend it. Very light weight!Customer Review: Good idea, but a piece of junk.

I thought this would be a cool little gadget to have in my pack on longer hikes or backpacking. On mine, the mirror and magnifying glass are almost impossible to open, you can either break a thumbnail, or use the screw drive on you Swiss Army Knife to try to open them. The thermometer is totally useless. The first time camping, I pulled the tool out of my jacket pocket to check the temp and it literally took nearly a half hour to adjust to the actual air temp. Then today I notice the thermometer battery is dead, and see here from other reviewers that the battery can't be replaced. Another item for the landfill? What a joke.
Luckily I bought mine from REI so I can get my money back. For now I'll stick with my LED headlamp and compass, and find a better thermometer. Then again, we all know when it is hot or cold, right?

While this looks fairly cool and useful, it is actually a very big letdown in actual functionality. I was given this "Safety Tool" by my father as a gift to keep in my car and I don't have the heart to tell him how awful this is so it sits in my glove compartment. Here are my observations:
* LED Flashlight; actually fairly bright but the battery doesn't appear to be replaceable
* Thermometer; battery went within the first month and it is not replaceable
* Compass; works well
* Whistle; not very loud at all
* 5x Magnifier; very small and poor quality
* Mirror; very small and poor quality
* Dry Storage; very small area
* Lanyard; actually very nice and includes safety breakaway, might use it for something else later
This is a very disappointing product that can't be taken as a serious survival tool, NOT RECOMMENDED!

$15 for a piece of plastic with
- Thermometer that doesn't work out of the box
- Flashlight that you have to squeeze a tiny button to work
- Mirror thats so small, it has no use in "survival"
- Magnifying glass you need to squint to see anything
- Compass that jams up in its own liquid.
- Can't really say anything bad about the whistle since its.. just a whistle.
- Storage compartment can hold maybe 10 matches. you can buy waterproof matches in a watertight case for 5 bucks, no need for this.
I see what they were trying to make here , and it was a good idea on paper, but the materials used and the execution is just awful. you're better off getting a thermometer watch from a different company, and a small led light on its own.

whistle,compass and flashlight works. Mirror and magnifiers are so small that they are virtually worthless & the Thermometer never has worked at all. Sorry, I expected something a little better and maybe bigger too.
