Description of Harbinger 1250 Training Grip WristWrap GloveSpecifically designed for men, this pair of Harbinger training grip gloves is ideal for frequent lifters and all-around weight trainers. The gloves are distinguished by a set of TechGel? comfort pads, which mold comfortably to your hands to protect them from the stresses of active training. The unique Comfort Tech fabrics, meanwhile, remain supple and comfortable even after cleaning. And lifters will love the patented WristWrap® technology, which improves a lifter's ability to lift heavier amounts of weight over a longer period of time by maximizing comfort and support. A final detail includes extended fingers to maximize hand protection. Note: the gloves should be hand washed to remove salt and oils and preserve the original fit.
Sports reviews of Harbinger 1250 Training Grip WristWrap GloveCustomer Review: Gloves that can last over a decade! Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
These are the greatest gloves EVER. They kept my hands soft for a decade before I lost them.
One note: look at the gloves carefully before accepting them. I had one pair come out of the bag where the stiching of the thumb cloth to the leather was just not stiched.
Customer Review: Great gloves Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
These are considered my 'regular' gloves. I also own Versa gripps. I use this pair for all my push exececises such as bench press and other chest and shoulder excercises. Great padding and wrist support. I love them.
In addition, they are very durable.
Customer Review: Best Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
This is the best pair of training gloves you'll ever buy. Wrist wrap gives excellent support and rubber padding is awesome...no slipping.
Customer Review: I FEEL GREAT WEARING THEM Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I BOUGHT THESE AND THEY ARE GREAT...I FEEL MORE STRENGH IN MY HANDS USING THESE GLOVES!
Customer Review: Superior Quality with Excessive Padding Sport shop rating: 4 Stars
The suitability of these gloves depends on what type of lifting you enjoy. With padding on the palm and fingers, your entire gripping surface is cushioned. Such padding is common on bicycling gloves where hours of continuous pressure and vibration can cause numbness and pain. Yet, most serious lifters would probably forgo comfort for better control provided by unpadded gloves.
Traditional weight lifting gloves are made from durable but supple leather to prevent calluses and improve grip. The latter becomes critically important when perspiring. In my experience, having no padding is best - especially when lifting heavier weight. Basically, the compliance of the padding reduces your level of control. At the same time, there is an undesirable absorption of energy, albeit a miniscule amount.
The quality of the materials and construction of the Harbinger 1250 gloves is the best I have seen. Clearly, the expense in making these gloves is significantly higher than in other products I have owned by Nike and Gold's. Unfortunately, the generous use of thick split leather and padding provides insulation that causes excessive heat buildup. With heat comes sweat. I find myself taking these gloves off multiple times during my workout to let the sweat evaporate. It would be nice if there were perforations or large vents on the back to mitigate this problem.
While these gloves might be ideal for certain lifters who prefer comfort over control, I would counsel gym rats to purchase other gloves with less or no padding. Kudos to Harbinger for making a quality product, but these gloves aren't for everyone.
