I was a meter reader for the local municipality for several years, and ALWAYS carried Halt with me. I had to use it a few times, and it worked each and every time, regardless of the attacking dog's size or disposition. Since I read meters in the same areas of town on a regular basis, I came across the same dogs on a regular basis as well. The dogs that had to sprayed with Halt, seemed to remember after the first incident, and would never try to attack again after that.
My only word of caution, is "try" to stand up-wind of the dog you're going to spray IF AT ALL POSSIBLE, due to the fact that the wind can blow a mist of the Halt back at you....and you'll experience the same discomfort to the eyes and nostrils as the pups do! Trust me, I know!!!

I have a dog next door who chases anything that moves and will bite at moving objects. I ride a motorcycle down my drive and he used to chase and attempt to bite. I spoke with my good neighbors several times but they do not control him. In the interest of good relationships (and rather than taking the action I had in mind - dead dog)I obtained this spray and sprayed him with it when he chased my motorcycle. It does stop this very aggresive dog in his tracks. I am not sure if continued application will deter him from his habit of chasing motorcycles but it does work when applied. I'm an avid cyclist. I have some long routes out in the country and come across many chasing dogs. They just bolt right out in the street with no regard for their own safety. I've used this spray a few times to stop close calls. It stops the dogs right in their tracks. Now they just watch me ride by. Even after a winter (3 months) the still remember. I have to say that it didn't work on one dog. Also, I like the red belt holder. I can hang it on my front brake cable with no issues. I am sooooo quick on the draw!! BLAMO! Come and get it doggies. I ordered two of these: one for my daughter who has a small dog she walks and was moving away where although there is a leash law, it's not always followed. She's not had to use it yet, but said she feels more confident walking her dog with it in her pocket.
I read the reviews before buying and was convinced by the favorable ones. I also ordered one for my aunt who has started walking for exercise and had been approached by a stray dog a couple of times. There is no leash law where she lives. She says she hasn't had to use it yet, but feels better having something as protection.

I live in an area where irresponsible people let their dogs roam free and my dogs and I have been harassed by pit bulls and other large dogs. Halt dog repellent immediately repels dogs and keeps them from harassing you in the future. I carry it when ever walking my dogs or when walking by myself in the neighborhood. I don't like to use mace, because it might harm other dogs. Halt makes them tuck their tails behind there legs and run away. They don't yelp or appear to be in pain, they just leave. I guess it's a lot like getting sprayed by a skunk.
