I had not heard of this brand before, but I was willing to give it a try. Surprise! This racket is actually quite good (stiff and light), despite its low price. There is one thing quite peculiar. I bought this one which has a stated size of 10mm and another Halex racket of size 8.5mm. Comparing the two, the grip dimensions are EXACTLY the same! The 8.5mm model is $3 cheaper, but I'd reccommend this 10mm model, because it is an one-piece construction, rather than the 8.5mm model's multi-piece construction.
January 12, 2010 Update: I am ordering two additional Halex badminton rackets because they are great for the money! You can't buy a quality racket for $11 at your local sporting goods shop. I also have a Yonex Muscle Power 7 which is about four times the price of the Halex, but I don't think it is four times better. Contrary to conventional logic, tighter string tension does NOT offer more power, it actually provides more control. If you want more power, the string tension should be lower (in the 16-20 pound range instead of 21-24 pound range).
I wrap my Halex rackets with Yonex synthetic grip wrap called Super Grap (about four dollars for three grip tapes, available on Amazon) and it will make the racket even better.
