Before we bought this product we did some research...the results were mixed on this product, but from our research it appeared to be the best buy. We were right! Very easy assembly. Robust product. It was an instant hit with our son (his b-day present) and the neighborhood kids. A few tips from our experience. Note these are just my suggestions: pound the base piece into the ground using a brick (or block of wood) as a buffer (wear safety glasses). I didn't want to damage the pipe to prevent the mating piece from fitting in. Cement a piece of PVC pipe (or equivalent) that the bottom pipe can be inserted and removed from. This will allow your unit to be portable (family picnics, etc). The bolts have a square portion under the head (to prevent rotation when tightening). This will not fit into the hole (didn't on our unit)...However, you can get it started and there is enough threaded portion of the bolt sticking out the other side of the pipe to get the nut started by hand. Once you start tightening with a wrench it all comes together nicely. Great sturdy buy for the money!
