Is using a GPS distance device allowed under USGA regulations?
The USGA and R&A both recently sanctioned the use of satellite-based yardage measuring devices during competition. Specifically, decision 14-3/0.5 allows a committee to permit the use of distance measuring devices by Local Rule. Golfers should check with their golf professional prior to use in a USGA sanctioned event. GPS devices have always been permitted in handicap scoring in recreational rounds.

Great product and a great company, first i went to their site and look for courses in Mexico, I didn't find mine, so I asked them when they were planning to have my course, two days after that i received an email asking me for the golf club address and two days later they confirmed they had mapped the course.
With this amaizing good services I felt obligated to buy it, and now I am very satisfied, it works fantastic, i always had my doubts about how long i really drove or shot my irons. It gives you everything you need, distance to water, to bunker, to green, to 100, 125 or 150 layups.
Very good product, very good service. You dont find your course?, ask them.

I picked one of these up in March 2008 and have used it every Monday that we've played this year. It's great to not have to go searching for a sprinkler head or yardage marker at every stop. Has definitely been worth the money I spent on it. You can load up to 20 courses on it. Its sped our play up and another one of our foursome recently got rid of his sky caddie and bought one. I had one issue on a yardage marker on one course where the sprinkler head read 86 and the Garmin read 206. I emailed the folks at Golf Logix and I got a reply back in email later saying the problem was fixed. I havent had any problems with it. Its easy to use. This product works perfectly! I bought it because it's made by Garmin. I own two Garmin units for my boat and one for my car. All have been excellent. The only problem I had with the GolfLogix unit was self induced--I kept misspelling Golflogix by putting a "c" at the end. That misspelling kept misdirecting me to the wrong web site. Once I spelled it right downloading the software and the courses was one of the easiest things I've ever done on the computer.
On the course the unit works great. No need to point or push buttons. It just gives you precise yardage to front, center and back of greens as well as yardage to traps, yardage to clear traps & hazards, etc.

I purchased this unit just prior to traveling to VA for a week of golf with my wife. Set up and loading of the courses we were to play was very easy. This is our first golf GPS unit and we haven't been disappointed. It really speeds up play and takes the guesswork out of club selection. Accuracy is excellent. One common complaint has been its appetite for batteries and we've found that we've been able to play as little as 1 round to as many as 4 rounds per set of 2 (the average would be more like 3 rounds per set). Replacement of batteries, however, couldn't be easier and can be done in about 10 seconds.
Overall, extremely happy with this purchase.

I was a little apprehensive that this might be difficult to program and use. I hate wasting time with that kind of stuff. Well, it was as easy as it could be. Loading the courses took just a few minutes and was very simple. Using it is also very easy. My buddies have other brands. During a round we checked with each other to verify accuracy of distance. At my play level I do not need the shape of the green or color images. Just need to know how far to get to or past a hazard or how far to the green. This does it. This GolLogix is very accurate and the price was a lot less than they paid for theirs with features I don't need. I would recommend this to anyone.
