What are the advantages of GolfLogix GPS versus other yardage devices? A handheld GPS device, such as GolfLogix GPS, offers more flexibility during a typical round of golf. You can bring the GPS to the ball and get more accurate distance data. Unlike other laser devices, there is no need to point and aim or have a direct line of sight to the hazard or hole. How do I get golf course maps on my GolfLogix GPS? Included with your initial purchase is access to download a single golf course map of your choice. Simply follow the step-by-step instructions in the Quick Start Guide located in the box to download the Course Manager Software from the GolfLogix Web site. Then follow the registration and activation screens on your computer to obtain your free golf course map. With a $29.95 annual membership, you can download an unlimited amount of golf courses worldwide (currently more than 15,000 in the database) and have access to GolfLogix product enhancements and upgrades. Is using a GPS distance device allowed under USGA regulations? The USGA and R&A both recently sanctioned the use of satellite-based yardage measuring devices during competition. Specifically, decision 14-3/0.5 allows a committee to permit the use of distance measuring devices by Local Rule. Golfers should check with their golf professional prior to use in a USGA sanctioned event. GPS devices have always been permitted in handicap scoring in recreational rounds. What's in the Box? GolfLogix GPS, USB cable, belt/bag clip, 2 AA alkaline batteries, printed instructions
Sports reviews of GolfLogix Garmin GPSCustomer Review: Solid GPS Unit Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I purchased the Golf Logix about 10 weeks ago and ahve been very happy with it. The first set of batteries lasted 6 rounds. There was still juice in them, but I changed them anyway. The device is easy to use and appears to be very accurate. I have seen an improvement in my score and club selection is so much easier now. It is amazing how easy it is to estimate your range and be a club or two off (particularly if your ball lands outside the fairways as mine sometimes do). This device makes the selection crystal clear for you.
I played with a new person today who was frustrated because he could not load the course on his Sky Caddie because they have it available. The Golf Logix has every course I could drive to within 50 miles.
I am very happy I chose this GPS finder.
Customer Review: Easy to use. Exactly what I was looking for. Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
Before buying this GPS I looked at and handled several other products including the Sky Caddie. Unless you are looking for a color screen (why?) you will really enjoy using the GolfLogix GPS. The information is easy to understand, readily available without pushing a million buttons and the idea here is to play golf not play "Use the GPS". Throughout the entire round of golf you merely look at the unit. Never needed to search for anything. Also, consider the fact that this GPS uses batteries. There is no need to concern yourself about running out of "juice" during a round of golf. Just carry a spare set of AA batteries with you, and pop them in if necessary. You are back in business very quickly. I am very happy with my decision to purchase the GolfLogix GPS.
Customer Review: Highly recommend this product Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I've had my Garmin for a couple of weeks now and it's fabulous knowing accurate yardages (even when you need to play up an adjacent hole!)
I was undecided on the Garmin Golf Logix vs Sky Caddy choice, but went with the Garmin for their ease of use, customer support (I've heard it's very poor with Sky Caddy), and price.
I like that it's powered by 2 AA batteries (easy replacement of battery mid round (though I've played 4 rounds and the originals are still going strong)
It would be nice if you could track your last shot yardage and still toggle to the green/hazard yardage info to help your buddies (right now, it's one or the other option, not both), but for the price, I really feel I made the right choice.
Customer Review: Simple - love it Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I chose this product because it sounded simpler than some of the others out there. I love that I just turn it on and page through to find the course I'm at from the ones I've downloaded, then it does the rest, automatically scrolling from one hole to the next. I was worried that having "only" 6 features per hole would be limiting, but it has been fine. It has the key traps, doglegs, etc., that I need to take into account in choosing my club. With this on my bag, I play much faster, and I'm making different strategic decisions at times since I have more (and more accurate) information to go on. My only problem with the GolfLogix is that I have trouble getting it back from family members who like to borrow it!
Customer Review: Super product as advertised: Simple to use, accurate and reasonably priced Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
Wanted an accurate and simple to use GPS for my wife to use. I prefer laser guns. This product lived up to the hype and previous reviews. Navigating the set-up page was a bit confusing at first, but after that little set back it all works as advertised. When I check it against my laser gun it is accurate within zero to two yards. I have often checked other GPS brands in my foursome and found them to be off quite often by 4 to 8 yards.
My wife loves it because it is so simple to use, and she simply wants the front, center and back green yardages along with hazards. I is flawless in finding the right hole to display. Battery life is a tad less than advertised in our case, but not by much.
