What are the advantages of GolfLogix GPS versus other yardage devices? A handheld GPS device, such as GolfLogix GPS, offers more flexibility during a typical round of golf. You can bring the GPS to the ball and get more accurate distance data. Unlike other laser devices, there is no need to point and aim or have a direct line of sight to the hazard or hole. How do I get golf course maps on my GolfLogix GPS? Included with your initial purchase is access to download a single golf course map of your choice. Simply follow the step-by-step instructions in the Quick Start Guide located in the box to download the Course Manager Software from the GolfLogix Web site. Then follow the registration and activation screens on your computer to obtain your free golf course map. With a $29.95 annual membership, you can download an unlimited amount of golf courses worldwide (currently more than 15,000 in the database) and have access to GolfLogix product enhancements and upgrades. Is using a GPS distance device allowed under USGA regulations? The USGA and R&A both recently sanctioned the use of satellite-based yardage measuring devices during competition. Specifically, decision 14-3/0.5 allows a committee to permit the use of distance measuring devices by Local Rule. Golfers should check with their golf professional prior to use in a USGA sanctioned event. GPS devices have always been permitted in handicap scoring in recreational rounds. What's in the Box? GolfLogix GPS, USB cable, belt/bag clip, 2 AA alkaline batteries, printed instructions

GolfLogix GPS by Garmin
I purchased my Golflogix GPS by Garman on 12/14/2008, but due to back problems I didn't get to use it until 01/05/2009. The software was very easy to use, downloaded the course on Sunday 01/04/2009 and carried my Golflogix to the course on Monday 01/05/2009. As I pulled into the parking lot my Golflogix gave me the distance to the first tee, I was impressed from the start. My three (3) playing partners were just as impressed as I was. They started asking what is my distance from this point. This devise works just as described. It gave distances to every hazard and to lay-up shots. It also makes deciding what club to use an easier choice. Overall I would recommend Golflogix to others looking for a golf GPS devise. I can't wait to use it again.
Customer Review: Just shot a 77 using the golflogix,My freinds thought aliens invaded my body. Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I got my golflogix 04-16-08.
I had a small learning curve to download (Windows xp)the program and entered 20 courses.
Pros: Every yardage marker on the screen was spot on.I have an index of 14.8 and I usually shoot a 88 to 85.
I used it for the first time today (04-17-08) and was hot off the first tee. Maybe it was because I could relax knowing the golf logix would tell me my ranges, but my score told the story. My freinds were in shock that I beat guys whom have been playing for years. I just started 3yrs ago.
Cons: It does not give your yardages to trees, only bunkers and water. I had to purchase the 29.95 package or the system would not let me advance.(Maybe I was doing something wrong, but over all great product. Amazon delivered in 4days.
Thanks.
Customer Review: Perfect for me Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I have to wear +175 readers to see much of anything up close. The yardages displayed on the Golflogix are easily readable without the glasses (who wants to bring those out on the golf course)
First set of AAs lasted fine through three rounds (about 14 hours) I keep a extra pair in my golf bag. Got good yardages at three different courses. Checked a few with a laser, always made sense for the flag position. Golflogix measures to the center of the green. Distance to clear hazards and length of last shot are both very handy. My drives are not quite as long on average as I thought.
If you've got young eyes, you may prefer a 2D or 3D display of the hole offered on some of the newer GPS toys. For me, especially at $159, (unlimited course downloads are $29.95 per year) the Golflogix is perfect.
Customer Review: GolfLogic 2008 Review Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I had one of the early models made by SkyCaddie, and this device is far superior. It's easier to use, holds 20 downloaded courses (as opposed to 10), finds the course you are at (as opposed to scrolling through a list), is waterproof (as opposed to water resistant), cost far less to get a one year membership to downloadable courses, and turns on in seconds with distances (as opposed to minutes). The 2008 model measures the distance from your last shot so you can tell how far you are hitting each club.
It's very easy to use. Just turn it on. I had no trouble downloading the courses, and I am a Mac user with the Mac Leopard operating system. The Garmin algorithn for finding distances is quick and accurate.
I really like it and can't imaging playing golf without it!
Customer Review: Other reviewers were right Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
Just bought the GPS8 and used it once. Was very frustrated when I first tried to register and download courses. Tried it on both Mac and PC computers with no luck. Of course it was over the weekend so I had to wait until Monday to get tech support. After a long wait on hold I finally got to talk to tech support. They were great! The problem was the USB connection to the GPS unit. I thought it was connected well but it wasn't. Once I got that connected, tech support helped me get the GPS working on both computers. Downloading 20 courses was a breeze. Once I got to the course, the unit worked as advertised. Easy to read in bright sunlight. Distances were spot on. All automatic, no buttons to push. Knowing the exact distance for club selection helped save 5-6 strokes.
