What are the advantages of GolfLogix GPS versus other yardage devices? A handheld GPS device, such as GolfLogix GPS, offers more flexibility during a typical round of golf. You can bring the GPS to the ball and get more accurate distance data. Unlike other laser devices, there is no need to point and aim or have a direct line of sight to the hazard or hole. How do I get golf course maps on my GolfLogix GPS? Included with your initial purchase is access to download a single golf course map of your choice. Simply follow the step-by-step instructions in the Quick Start Guide located in the box to download the Course Manager Software from the GolfLogix Web site. Then follow the registration and activation screens on your computer to obtain your free golf course map. With a $29.95 annual membership, you can download an unlimited amount of golf courses worldwide (currently more than 15,000 in the database) and have access to GolfLogix product enhancements and upgrades. Is using a GPS distance device allowed under USGA regulations? The USGA and R&A both recently sanctioned the use of satellite-based yardage measuring devices during competition. Specifically, decision 14-3/0.5 allows a committee to permit the use of distance measuring devices by Local Rule. Golfers should check with their golf professional prior to use in a USGA sanctioned event. GPS devices have always been permitted in handicap scoring in recreational rounds. What's in the Box? GolfLogix GPS, USB cable, belt/bag clip, 2 AA alkaline batteries, printed instructions
Sports reviews of GolfLogix Garmin GPSCustomer Review: Totally Happy with my Purchase! Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I spent some time looking into the many different GPS yardage devices on the market and came to the conclusion that all I really wanted was a device that can give me yardage to the green (front, center, back) and yardage to hazards and also to clear them. That's exactly what the GolfLogix does. It's not fancy, there's no graphics, can't keep track of your score, doesn't have a color screen but that's okay with me. I've played 5 rounds (two rounds with a GPS in the cart and 3 rounds at my home course) with the GolfLogix and I believe that the yardage is accurate to within 1-3 yards. So, unless you're a serious amateur or play for big $$$ (I'm a 15 handicap) I think it's more than sufficient. As for battery life; I recommend using rechargeable ones and just replacing them after a round or two. The other complaint I kept reading about was the unit "locking up", well so far that has not happened to me. Set up was very straight forward and not a problem at all. The only item I can gripe about has nothing to do with the performance of the unit but rather the $29.95 yearly charge to upload all the courses. Other than that I would highly recommend the GolfLogix.
Customer Review: Great Product Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I received the Golflogix GPS as a birthday gift. It's the only one I've owned so I can't compare it to others, but as far as ease of use, convenience, reliability and accuracy it's great. As I check the yardage markers to the gps, they're extremely close, and if not, I'll base my club selection on the gps which gets me to where I want to be (If I hit it right). With over 21,000 courses available to download immediately, the odds are good that your favorites will already be mapped. If not, you can e-mail a request to map a course and have it I think within a couple of weeks. It's real easy to read, even in bright sunshine. All my golf buddies love it too. Bad thing is I'm now the official yardage marker! I can usually get 4-5 rounds with one set of batteries, and keep a set of rechargeable batteries with me. It locked up on me once, took it home to reset it on the computer and it's been fine since. Didn't seem like that big a deal, everything computerized has a glitch now and then. If you like to ride, the stand that mounts on the cart is a real handy accessory. In my opinion, if you're looking for a golf gps, you won't be sorry you got this one.
Customer Review: Don't run over it with a golf cart Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
This is my second one as the first one slipped off the belt clip and it was run over by the golf cart behind me. My only complaint about this product is that it can slip off the belt clip too easily when you lean forward or to the side. In my own golf cart I have a holder which suctions cups to the windsheild and eliminates any problem, but when you rent a golf cart, don't use the belt clip. I now put it in the cup holder. Other than that, it is fine unit which automatically finds the course you are playing on and gives accurate readings. The fact that it holds 20 courses is also a plus as most only hold 10. The annual suscription fee is only $30.00 compared to the $50.00 of most others. Customer service from Golflogix has also been excellent when you need to update a course or find an error. I would definitely recommend getting a rechargeable battery pak kit as it will go through batteries quite rapidly. I can get about 3 rounds of 18 in on one set of batteries. GolfLogix GPS by Garmin
Customer Review: ENJOY AND IMPROVE YOUR GAME Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I HAVE HAD MY GOLFLOGIX 2008 FOR ABOUT 3 ROUNDS AND HAVE ENJOYED IT FROM THE START. I NOW NOT ONLY SEE THE HAZARDS AND BUNKERS BUT KNOW EXACTLY HOW FAR AND DISTANCE OVER THE PROBLEM. I HAVE FOUND THAT I AM USING DIFFERENT CLUBS THAN I USUALLY USED BECAUSE I NOW KNOW THE EXACT YARDAGE TO THE CENTER, FRONT, AND BACK OF THE GREEN WHICH HAS CHANGED HOW I APPROACH THE HOLE IT NOW ALLOWS ME TO DECIDE RATHER THAN WONDERING IF I NEED A FULL, THREE QUARTER SWING OR A DIFFERENT CLUB. FRIENDS OF MINE WHEN I FIRST TOLD THEM I HAD PURCHASED ONE OF THESE ITEMS SAID IT WAS JUST ANOTHER ONE OF THOSE EXPENSIVE GOLF GIMMICKS AND LAUGHED, UNTIL THEY PLAYED A ROUND WITH ME. NOW MY CLOSE BUDDY WHO HAD A LAZER YARDAGE FINDER HAS TRADED IT IN ON A NEW GOLF BAG AND HIS KIDS GOT HIM A GOLFLOGIX 2008 FOR FATHER'S DAY. THE OPERATIONAL VALUES ARE GREAT. IT IS SO EASY TO RUN THROUGH THE MENU. AND SO EASY TO DOWNLOAD ANY GOLF COURSE, NO NEED OR ADDITIONAL EXPENSE FOR SPECIAL PROGRAMS. I HAVE AND WOULD, WITH CONFIDENCE, RECCOMEND THIS PRODUCT NOT TO JUST ANYONE BUT TO EVERYONE. IT'S "GREAT"
Customer Review: As Promised Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I bought the GolfLogix 2008 model to help me know how far I hit with each of my clubs and of course tell me how far to the flag, hazards, etc. I read some other reviews saying it's difficult to use, you need a cheat sheet to remember how to get your shot distance, and if the hole your playing on is close to another you don't get the reading of the hole your on. If you read any reviews like those you are being miss led probably by someone who works for SkyCaddie or another company,Because this is the easiest electronic unit you will ever see in todays hightech world. To get your shot distance PUSH ENTER from where you made your shot and walk to your ball. If it's reading a hole other then the one your on PUSH PAGE UP. So, if you can PUSH ONE BUTTON then you can operate this unit. Garmin is not going to sell you a $300 unit and not deliver on their promise and that goes with any company. Remember the saying "you get what you pay for",at $300 you get the best Golf GPS! GolfLogix help me have a more consisent game. I hope this review helps you filter though the BS.
