The GoFit Chin-Up bar will adjust to fit most standard width doorframes. The bar easily supports up to 250 pounds of weight when mounted properly. After reading all the positive comments about the Go-Fit chin up bar, I decided to try it out. I placed the order and it came not even two days later. =)
I was a little worried about the issue with the brackets coming loose and not being of the best quality, but as soon as I opened the package it was quite clear that Go-Fit had upgraded their brackets section). The brackets are very sturdy and also feature a few locking bits attached. But their is a slight problem, I tried to remove the bar from the brackets and it's seemingly impossible to do. I tried every which way and the bar would not come free. This could be a problem for some people who need to remove it after use.
Other than that, the product is great! It's very sturdy and is made of very durable materials. It comes with neoprene grips that both prevent slipping from the bar as well as absorbing the sweat accumulated on your palms.
Overall, this is a great product for anyone who wants a simple yet effective tool to add to your workout at home. And of course, you can't beat the price!

The reviews here are correct-- this is a STURDY bar. Shockingly so. It's also SIMPLE to mount. And yes, the obvious, it's INEXPENSIVE. But that's not what I find especially INTERESTING about this bar. Here is: because of an inherent characteristic of this simple design, you receive a greatly increased forearm workout while doing pull-ups. This bar, in order to fit in varying door frame sizes, is designed to extend when twisted in one direction and to shorten when twisted the other direction. However, when you're doing a pull-up, you don't want the bar to roll (or twist) or your fingers will roll off. To prevent the rolling of the bar, your forearm muscles need to work extra hard to maintain the proper wrist stance. At first I found this annoying. It made the pull-ups significantly more difficult, and I wanted to work my back and biceps, not my forearms. But with a little patience and fortitude, this bar proved to increase my pull-up strength in ways I could've never planned. This is exactly what you need for a chin-up bar to put in a doorway. It comes with easily-installed brackets to hold the bar in place; the length of the bar adjusts gradually in a screw-like motion to fit into the doorway; and it is cheap. DO NOT use the bar without the brackets, as other reviewers have noted.
The bar also comes with two foam grips. The grips are nice, and helps you hang on until the end of the set, especially if (like me) your grip fails before your back and forearm muscles. I haven't had grips on my previous chin-up bars, and the grips definitely help. The foam will probably wear out in a year or so, depending on how much you use the bar. I think the grips can't be replaced, and then you'll probably have to use gloves as the polished chrome surface of the bar is really too slick to hold on to for long. Or you could just buy a new bar with fresh grips, as this thing is really cheap.
Now go get pumped up.

I haven't read any of the other reviews, so I'm not sure what everyone else thinks of it.
My simple review is that this thing works. It's not really that hard to devise a good chin-up/pull-up bar but from what I've seen at my friends' houses, not a lot of people get it right.
However, this one works. I believe I got it around christmas time '06 and it's worked wonderfully ever since. It's right in the doorframe by my bedroom and it's installed without the screw things. I weigh anywhere from 150 to 170 pounds throughout the year (I'm a senior that does wrestling, track, and crew, so my weight really does fluctuate that much) and I've never felt it slip.
The black foam pads are great too. They're still pretty much intact.
I really can't think of anything else to say, except that you can't find a better chin-up/pull-up bar, so buy this.

This chin up/pull up/ sit-up bar is much better than I expected. First of all you can also do sit ups with it(it holds your feet down under the bar)which I didn't even know. Secondly you can close the door in whatever position it is in. Also, I am 6'5" tall and i have not hit my head on it yet while it has been in my normal sized doorway and I don't hit my knees on the floor while i am doing the pull ups etc. I highly recommend this product if you are looking for a quality product at a good price and want to get stronger arms and abs. Also, Installation was very easy and removing the bar only takes a few seconds because all you have to do is unscrew a few full rotations and it can be put away out of sight, however the mounting brackets are kind of ugly though without the bar in position. Other than that this product is great.
