Customer Review: Nifty workout kit.
Sport shop rating: 4 Stars

My job takes me away from home a lot, often to fairly remote areas with no gym facilities. I decided to try resistance tubing, and this set looked to be the most bang for the buck. At first, I found the action of the tubing a little awkward: for folks used to free weights or weight-stack machines, it will take a while to grow accustomed to resistance tubing. (I suspect using a machine such as a Bowflex might require much the same adjustment interval.) I wondered how effective tubing could really be, since it has relatively light resistance at the beginning of a movement, with max resistance at the "top" of a movement. However, after being away from home for two weeks, I found that using the ProGym had at the very least maintained my fitness. In the case of bicep curls and tricep extensions, my strength actually increased. Note also that you can do exercises with this equipment that can't be done with free weights or stack machines, especially core exercises. For travelers, or folks wanting an inexpensive home gym setup, I heartily recommend the ProGym, perhaps augmented with a set or two of dumbbells.

Customer Review: Good, for specific usage.
Sport shop rating: 4 Stars

I have had this kit for about two years, maybe longer. It has served me well and has held up. However, I believe it to be for specific usage.

I would not buy this for my sole source of resistance training.

I travel a lot for work. So I got this specifically so I could do something if there was no gym near by and the hotel did not offer anything. True, this is rare, but it does happen. This is the only time I use this kit. I feel it does a very good job to "get you through" till you can get back to the gym or your home or whatever.

This would probably be fine for beginners as well. The cords are nice so that you can stretch along with resistance. The handles are comfortable and the DVD (I've watched only a little) seems to offer good suggestions for getting started.

But again, if you are trying to find something for every day usage, your use to working out with weights than I'd look for something else. However if you need something compact to "fill in" or want something to get started, this is a good reasonable value option.

Customer Review: Portable Gym
Sport shop rating: 4 Stars

The thing I love about this is its portability. I travel alot and need to keep in shape while on the road. I can do a whole series of workouts in any hotel room that covers biceps, triceps, chest, back, even my legs, and it all fits in a little mesh bag, only needs a door and not much space. You can increase or decrease the "weight" by changing or adding bands - no matter how strong or weak you are, you can find what works best for you and get a good workout. My only critique is the carabiner type clip that connects the bands to the handle: the quality seems a little poor and because it's narrow at one end and wide at the other, it can get in the way on certain moves. A more narrow, oval shaped link would have been better in my opinion. Everything that is included is of acceptable quality. The DVD is a nice bonus and gives a decent workout regime. Especially liked the leg work. Overall, a good product and well worth the price.

Customer Review: Mostly satisfied
Sport shop rating: 4 Stars

The progym appears to be that it will ultimately suit my needs. The main reason I ordered this kit was that it included ankle cuffs. Those provided in the kit that I received were either defective or a poor product design. Using the lightest weight tubing (5#) the cuff does not stay attached and pulls apart. I have contacted Gofit and am waiting for a response and that they will replace the non-sticking cuffs that I received. The foam handles are great. I prefer using the exercises in the Thera-Band Resistance Band & Tubing Instruction Manual. The DVD is okay but the intended use for this kit is an adjunct to physical therapy and the DVD is more gym/fitness oriented. It has been some time since I contacted progym. The ankle cuffs have not been replaced...therefore, I must use them cautiously until I can find a substitute. The ankle cuffs on ripcords are fantastic but are not interchangeable with progym

Customer Review: happy with the gear but not the instructions
Sport shop rating: 4 Stars

I just got this and found these changes from the
product description:

1. Instead of a workout poster I got a booklet with
photos of the routines, but no instruction on using
the gear or doing the routines. It's mainly a
reminder for the routines you learn on the DVD.
Suggested improvement: information from the DVD
should also be in this booklet.

2. Lynda Leene is not on the DVD I got. Instead,
Jacqueline modeled the routines while a coach did
all the talking. Suggested improvement: show how to
assemble the gear and use a real door.

I'm happy with the gear but the educational material
needs improvement.
