Description of Garrity Power Lite 3 LED Crank Light

A proven necessity for hurricane preparedness, the Garrity Power Lite lets you crank up the power with a few turns of the handle. This go-anywhere, anytime light is always ready, no matter how long it's been between uses. Just press on the power button, crank the handle, and light up the power. The Power Lite includes three super-bright LED bulbs that provide up to one hour of bright light for every minute of cranking. In addition, the light's rechargeable NiMH battery never needs to be replaced. Other features include a magnifying lens that casts a bright beam, a rubberized grip, and a compact housing. The lightweight, compact LED flashlight is also terrific for weekends at the cabin, traveling, stashing in the glove box, and standard power outages. The Power Lite carries a lifetime warranty (applies to the fixture only, not bulbs or batteries).

Sports reviews of Garrity Power Lite 3 LED Crank Light

Customer Review: mines is light blue! drill baby drill.
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

awesome flashlight. it has 3 LEDs and you know what that means.

LED lights are the new nowadays they have the ability to replace incandescent and CFL (compact fluorescent lighting). people are pushing for CFL but not alot of recycling centers accept them because they contain mercury and are toxic to the environment. Home depot is generous enough and they have set up a recycling program for CFLs. oops anyways this flashlight is awesome and very easy to use

you just crank it with your hand and it gets power. if you're scared it runs out then just crank it while its on although it will look funny. The flashlight also has a funny cranking sound like it's out of oil but nothing that will be too annoying. I used a freeplay Jonta flashlight and that one had a smoother cranking sound and also had a usb input so you can charge it (mini usb to big usb) but the price is much more than this.

i recommend this if you want a decent flashlight that doesn't rely on batteries, as in continually buying and replacing them. when opened inside there is a small battery that is rechargable and when you crank the handle it charges the battery.

what i did to my flashlight and the reason i bought it was to make it become a phone charger. i bought a car lighter charger for my nokia phone here on amazon. then i cut the end that is going into the car and it reveals 2 wires. i then soldered the wires to the sides of this flashlight and now i can charge my phone with this flashlight crank. i measured the voltage of the battery at 5.7 volts which is enough to power my cell phone. one downside is that my hand gets tired too fast and if you tried this, it would be great if you can make it charge your phone while you turn on the flashlight instead of doing the cranking but oh well. the reason why i bought this flashlight was for this experiment and it worked. for those who want to try this, what i did was i pulled the car charger through one of the 4 screw holes that way i didnt have to drill at the bottom.

oh yeah one thing mentioning is that the color of the light is kinda blue so it's not pure white. doesn't affect my buying decision since i like this flashlight. hope this helps!

Customer Review: Regular/Emergency Flashlight
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

Garrity Power Lite 3 LED Crank Light comes in handy during a power outage or when you've run out of batteries and need a flashlight in a pinch.

Pros
----
- Easy To Crank
With one hand, you can firmly and confortably wrap your hand around the slightly narrower rubberized "waist" of the flashlight; with the other hand, you can easily crank the hand-crank either clockwise or counter-clockwise. The hand-crank has a rubberized knob to allow you to get a firm and comfortable hold of the crank. The narrow rubberized waist of the flashlight in conjunction with the angle of the entended hand-crank allows you to quickly and easily crank the hand-crank with no hindrance or obstruction because there's plenty of clearance between the crank and the hand holding the flashlight.

- Adjustible Brightness
Click the button once to turn on 3 LED's. Click it again to turn on just 1 LED. Click it a third time to turn the light off.

- Long-Lasting Power
Cranking just 2 minutes gives you about 25 - 30 minutes of usable light.

- Durable
I frequently use the Garrity Flashlight for camping and hiking. I've had it for well over a year and it's proven to be very reliable so far.

Cons
----
- Cheesy Silver Exterior
The silver color is painted on and rubs off over time.

- Less Bright
The Crank Light is not as bright as a conventional battery powered LED flashlight. You can actually crank the flashlight while the light is turned on to produce a brighter light but as soon as the cranking is stopped, the brightness immediately diminishes.

Although the Garrity Power Lite 3 LED Crank Light is not as bright as a conventional battery operated flashlight, it works well enough for use as a regular flashlight. It comes in especially handy as an emergency flashlight and ought to be an indispensible item in any emergency preparedness toolkit.

Customer Review: Works as advertised, great survival, camping or handy light
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

I bought two of these as stocking stuffers for my boys for Christmas. They have taken all the abuse that boys in the teenage category can dish out and still work great. They charge easily and hold a charge well as documented by others here. The light output is good enough for basic flashlight purposes and because they don't need batteries it means that they can be made ready very quickly in an emergency or urgent situation and you won't have to scramble for C or D cells or AA's. You can also select between one or three led illumination to conserve power. Recommended for everyone who has been let down by a dead set of flashlight batteries or who needs a practical light for home backup or camping.

Customer Review: Does what it is supposed to do--Should be sold in 2-packs!
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

Having 3 LEDs makes this model somewhat less-bright than ones with more,
or larger, LEDs, but fewer/smaller LEDs also means less-winding.

This flashlight seems pretty efficient for the time you wind it & gives enough light
for general use (getting around, finding something, etc).

I would be interested in a similar model that was made of metal.

Dropping this model might be a problem since it has a plastic chassis.
Attaching a wrist-band/lanyard might help.

Basically, it is light to carry & does
what it is described as doing quite well.

The manufacturer should consider putting these out in 2-packs.

Customer Review: Great Product!

I was skeptical of LEDs and hand cranked contraptions in general, but I decided to take a gamble based on other reviews and this has really sold me. Springtime in Texas means windstorms which produce too many power outages to count. With the three Garrity Power Lites I just bought, I know my family will be able to reach efficient lighting when the power goes out. Even my two year old daughter can open the crank and get it going. I was really surprised by how bright it is, even in the low light mode. The best thing is the money I'll save in batteries! I'll buy more of these to have on hand in case of losses.
