This thing is both durable and powerful. It is about the size of a stick of gum, so it is small enough to put on your keychain. It also produces a surprising amount of light: about as much as a regular 2-battery flashlight. I keep one on my keychain at all times, and it is quite useful both in emergencies and at work.
It has gone to work with me daily in my pocket for about a year, and it is still going strong, and I have not had a single problem with it.
The battery is two CR2016. The light is an LED, so it uses very little battery juice, and the lithium battery is very powerful. So, I find it unlikely that I will wear out the battery and need to replace it. This is a good thing, since the replacement cells cost more than the flashlight itself.
It is held together with 4 small machine screws, so you certainly can replace the batteries. My only complaint is that it is painted plastic. So, the paint has started to peel off to reveal plain plastic underneath. No matter: it is usually in my pocket out of sight anyway. Also, the only way to turn it on is to press the button; the second you let it go, the light goes off: a great safeguard against accidental turn-on in your pocket.
Highly recommended.
Postscript. This thing has finally given up the ghost. The on/off switch is a molded piece of metal that has fatigued. Now, I have to press rather hard on the switch to turn it on. The battery has now become weak, and has changed into an ugly brownish-greenish color; yuck.
Considering the cost of only a few dollars, the really bright, useful light, small size attached to my keychain, and hard usage for almost 2 years, this modest light gets my highest recommendation.
