Sports reviews of Gaiam Coreplus ReformerCustomer Review: Good but with there was an intermediate DVD available Sport shop rating: 3 Stars
It's an interesting intro to the Coreplus band and it would be great if once you did the DVD a few times you could advance on to a real workout.
I'm in it for the pilates though. I will watch the video a few more times, write a list of what is done in the DVD, do it on my own and add repititions.
The concept of the coreplus band is a great one--I wish they would put out more DVDs at higher level.
Customer Review: Gaiam Coreplus Reformer Sport shop rating: 3 Stars
I have used the real reformer and did not think that this substitute was even close to being a good replacement. You can do as well with Pilates workouts that use resistance bands.
Customer Review: Disappointing Sport shop rating: 2 Stars
Throughout this workout, I kept thinking to myself, "Well, Mari Winsor's figured out another way to repackage the same workout routine she's been doing for a decade, this time with rubber tubing." The DVD is no different from any other Winsor Pilates DVD, except she figures out elaborate ways to include the reformer bands which often impede your ability to do the moves effectively (for example, using the bands as resistance during the Pilates One Hundred actually helps you keep your body elevated, instead of forcing your abs to do the work). The bands are cheap, with the handles moving everywhere during the routines, and the workout is boring. As someone who's been doing Winsor Pilates for years, I was hoping for something different and fresh. Nope.
Customer Review: Bands or Tubing Can Get the Same Work Done Sport shop rating: 2 Stars
I saw the article previewing this in Pilates Style magazine and anxiously awaited its arrival in the market. But the exercises are nothing more than doing Pilates with a strong C curve and rubber tubing. I was hoping this would be a great workout and it is a great idea to create a "portable" reformer, but it is nothing different or innovative! Try any band/tubing workout out there. They are just as effective.
Customer Review: Good Beginner Program Sport shop rating: 2 Stars
I bought this with the hope that it would mimic Refromer exercises without having to pay $2,000-$3,000 for and actual reformer. What the band does is make classic pilates exercises easier, rather than adding much resistance. If you are a beginner, it is a good place to start, but if you are already expereined with Pilates mat work you will get a better workout by doing the mat series alone.
