Come on people... what's with all the negativity here? If you do not have a chess program Fritz is the best engine to get. Now, if you have an older version of Fritz then I understand it is hard to justify spending $60 just to upgrade. A vast majority of players will never feel the difference in playing strength and the UCI is not that much improved from past version. But every strong player has and uses Fritz as their standard chess analysis tool. Advising people who want to improve their game to not get this program because you don't want to buy the upgrade is totally unjustified.
If you are trying to improve your play Fritz is a great training resource! Play (slow) games against other people at PlayChess.com or at your local chess club... then enter your games into Fritz and use the "analyze game" option to get master level advice. You should also setup won positions from combination books and endgames and then play the game out against this master program. After you play out a won position, use the "analyze game" option and see where you could have played better.
Fritz 11 also has a very nice combination trainer, and the one year subscription to PlayChess is useful for people who do not live near a good chess club. PlayChess.com is about $30 a year.
I highly recommend Fritz 11 to any chess player who wants to improve their game.
