We bought one of these for our youngest son's third birthday, and of course we had to by another one for his four year old brother to avoid fighting. I have to say that despite some mixed reviews, it works as advertised. We never had any problems with snaggles, and the hook deployed everytime. I wonder if people were using enough weight on their line? Or had some other problems with their rig? The kids caught three fish between them with these rods, and I caught one while showing them how to use it. Neither my wife nor I caught one with our conventional rods, so perhaps we should consider switching, too...

I purchased this for my great nephew as a birthday gift. He had seen it on TV and requested it. It was big hit at the birthday party and he has used it once and had a great time. He is looking forward to this summer and getting a lot more great use out of the Fogo Rocket Rod. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because I am fly fisherman and I guess I am snobbish when it comes to fishing equipment. However, my wife who also fly fishes said she would love to have one, so who knows.Customer Review: Great product, little tricky

My six year old just received this for his birthday and he loves it. This product is not necessarily marketed for kids though. There is a safety on it that has to be pressed when launching it, so it does require a little bit of coordination. It is a little difficult for him to do, but not as hard as casting a regular rod. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone younger than my son though, unless he or she was highly coordinated. Still a great product overall!Customer Review: Pleased Mom

We purchased the Fogo Rocket Rod Fishing Rod (Rocket Fish to our twins) for our twin boys (almost 4 years old.) Overall they performed really well, and the boys love them. We did have one son jam the line inside the reel a couple of times, but it was easily repaired while we were still on the boat. The boys even like casting them in our back yard for fun. Our little guys can be tough on anything, and thus far their new "Rocket Fish" have held up well.Customer Review: Great starter Rod

I bought 2 of these for both young children. I was impressed on how easy it was to use. For a very young child it may be a little heavy but still with some help would be manageable. Good quality, easy to use, user friendly and for the price really can not go wrong considering an average kids fishing pole/real kit runs $20+-.
Well worth the investment for those "Help dad, I caught a tree again" children. Recommended
