Sports reviews of FlipKlip Treadmill Book Holder 1-PakCustomer Review: Great product! Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I've tried a variety of solutions for holding my book open while on a treadmill, including holding it with my hand the whole time and using a bent clothes hanger. I use the FlipKlip every time I work out, with paperback and hardcover books. I don't have a problem with turning pages, but I did take the tip from another reviewer to put the back protrusions inside the dustcover, but outside the book cover, for hardcover books.
I would also add that it is helpful to play around with placement. For example, the FlipKlip does not have to be exactly in line with the spine of the book. Sometimes it doesn't hold the book open flat, and in that case I move the FlipKlip more to one side, which helps a lot.
It works well, and I have bought a few more to use with textbooks and cookbooks around the house. It's the best, most reasonable little gadget I have found for this purpose.
Customer Review: Gotta Love the Klip! Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
The FlipKlip has worked quite well for me at the gym. I've used it for large hardcover and trade paperbacks. I have no trouble turning the pages and I've found it much preferred to my old method (rubber bands) which kept leaving me with little tears in the pages. As for smaller paperbacks, I've found it works best when I'm towards the middle of the book (meaning things were rather even on each side). I was very happy with my FlipKlip relationship until, tragically, one day my FlipKlip broke. AGGH! I emailed the manufacturer (BlueZap) and received a very nice and prompt response from Bob (the inventor) who addressed my concerns and immediately made good on the one-year warranty by sending me a new FlipKlip. A real response from a real person?! A miracle in this day in age! A good product + good customer service = a product I'd certainly recommend.
Customer Review: Great Little Gadget! Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
This worked out perfectly with my book and the treadmill. It keeps the book flat and a simple flip up on the clip and you can easily turn the page without halting your workout. The service was very fast also, it shipped the first business day after I placed the order.
Note: I did find this to be a bit smaller and more lightweight than I expected. It worked very well for well broken in hardbacks and the larger trade paperbacks that lay flat easily, but I have had one new hardback where it was a bit cumbersome (but do-able) and I had one fat paperback that the clip would not hold on to at all. Perhaps the inventor can come up with a heavier duty model for those books? No matter, I have plenty of books that will work smoothly, and I am thrilled to be able to read whilst on the cardio -- it goes SO MUCH faster with a good book.
Customer Review: Just the best thing ever! Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I have had this item for about 4 years. I use it almost every day. I have not had to replace it and have had no problems with it. I love it! I like to read and eat and it is perfect for that! No more spoons, forks, knives or plates trying to hold my book open while I eat. Every time I use it when I eat out either the waitress or a customer asks me about it. I love to read at the beach but when the wind kicks up it is a problem. Not with the FlipKlip. My sister and I spend a week at the beach each year and a good deal of the day is spent reading on the beach, so of course that was her birthday present one year. I have also used this as stocking stuffers and for company Holiday gift giving. A gift card to a book store and this little goody is always a hit. The best $10 I ever spent!!
Customer Review: tip: remove plastic caps on front pegs Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
A number of people have mentioned that pages can be hard to turn sometimes. Just remove the plastic caps on the front pegs. The bare plastic still holds down the pages, and its much easier to turn pages that way.
Additionally, if you place the back pegs just inside the cover (rather than outside the cover), the device doesnt fall off the book if you happen to release the spring momentarily to turn pages or to flip rapidly thru pages. It remains balanced on top of the book because having the back pegs inside the cover holds the flip klip in place even when its 'unsprung'.
To echo the other positive reviews here, this is a lovely little gadget. Hard to improve on it in terms of a portable, slim, easy device that effectively holds a book open.
