If you're a self-proclaimed flashlight fanatic, this needs to be part of your collection.
By far it's the best flashlight I've ever owned.
Wasn't too impressed when I first got it because it was daytime. But when night fell, holy cow! I brought daytime to night in the palm of my hand.
Durable. You can feel it's built solidly. You can feel the two springs that support the CR123 batteries to brace impact.
Since I bought it, it's never been out of reach. NEVER out of reach.
Delta: I pretty much have it either on Strobe or level IX (225 lumens) all the time. If they engineered a dimple/braile to indicate the lightness level that'd be a plus. Otherwise I just click it on and twist until I find the appropriate setting.
CAMPING: Brought it camping and it lit up the whole campsite and almost outshined the car headlights passing by. The "9 LED" freebie flashlights folks had were no match for the Fenix. I'd keep it on III or so to humble myself, but when light was needed I throttled up to IX and everyone "shyly" slipped their little lights back in their pockets.
HALLOWEEN 2010: Every protective parent had a trusty flashlight at hand. Then there was me. I lit up the entire street and spotlighted the houses as the kids frolicked up to the doors. Strobe was handy to slow down cars driving down the street to fast. A little "Toy Story" Woody complained I was too bright. Then a few other parents wondered whether their flashlights were running low on battery b/c their light couldn't compare to mine. You could hear parents down the street say, "I need a flashlight like THAT!"
SUMMARY: It's not a weapon but I will admit it gives me the self-confidence of having one at night time. And it's safer than having a gun on me everywhere I go.
Get one and you won't regret it.
