The Fenix PD30 is an amazingly bright light and has nice new features vs the Fenix P3D.
Pros:
The light is small, bright, and easy to use. It fits comfortably in the palm of your hand and hangs relatively unobtrusively in the included holster, on your belt. The CR123 batteries are relatively easy to find, but not as ubiquitous as your standard AA / AAA batteries. They are unfortunately expensive, unless purchased in large quantities or online (you can find 'em for about $1 / piece). On Turbo Mode, the light is dazzlingly bright and WILL effectively illuminate a room, illuminate a faraway object, or blind a would-be assailant (for details, read my Fenix P3D Cree Premium Q5 LED Flashlight 215 lumens review).
Cons:
Switching from Turbo / Strobe to Low / Med / High / SOS mode requires two hands as the Bezel must be twisted to achieve this. The forward clickie switch must be fully engaged to initially turn the light on, but mode selection from that point on can be achieved with partial depression. It would be nice if partial depression would activate the light until released. The holster isn't as svelte as the P3D's, but is more secure.. both due to the new top flap. It's also slightly thicker because of the new Velcro Belt Loop which allows you to put it on even if you forget to loop it through your belt. The "Anti-Roll" feature is a nice improvement from the P3D, as well, but impedes holstering slightly.. just a minor annoyance.
All in all, this is a very handy light.. In general the Fenix PDx0 series or PxD series are great for Every Day Carry.. the variety within this series allows you to trade off performance, size, and convenience.

Great little light. I live outside the city in an area with no street lights and this is a great illuminator for those nights I arrive home late in the dark. Not only does it light up the immediate area in front of you but I can see from 1 end of my property to the other (>300').
How it works:
Starting with the bezel fully tightened pressing the tailswitch turns the light on in it's brightest mode; then a half press of the tailswitch flips it to strobe light mode. In either bright or strobe mode loosening the bezel a bit will flip the light to the lowest setting where subsequent half presses of the tailswitch cycle from mid, high, SOS, low, mid, high, SOS, low, ... and you get the idea!
Starting with the bezel loosened a bit pressing the tailswitch turns the light on in it's lowest mode; then subsequent half presses of the tailswitch cycle from mid, high, SOS, low, etc... In any of these modes tightening the bezel flips the light to full bright.
Why not 5 stars then?
I subtracted 1 star due to the 'half-pressing' action to change modes. Not that the concept of a half press is bad but it would be nice to get some feedback/feel without having to pay attention to the light output - sometimes you press too hard and accidently turn it off completely - and then have to start cycling through the modes again. This is a small nit as it's a great little light that works like a champ!
