Sports reviews of Dynaflex Pro Sports Gyro Wrist ExerciserCustomer Review: DynaFlex - easy to learn and it works! Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I purchased the DynaFlex in order to strengthen my wrist and hand after surgery on my wrist for a ganglion cyst. I was nervous about purchasing it because some reviewers said it was hard to start. However, I found it very easy to start with the string that is provided. It only took a few tries handling the DynaFlex to find that "sweet spot" when the gyroscope takes off and starts exercising your hand. Not only has my grip improved (in a very short while) but I find it very convenient to use. (I like to use it while watching TV.) It is possible to vary the speed of the workout so that you can gently exercise your hand (especially important when it is still recovering from an injury). It is also true that this device exercises and strengthens your lower arm (you can feel it working!). I haven't used it long enough to say whether it has also strengthened my upper arm, but I imagine that it will - at least to some extent. I like the DynaFlex so much, that I ordered one for a friend who is recovering from a broken wrist. If you think I'm some young sports buff...think again. I'm 56 and happy to do anything to keep the strength in my hands. My friend reports that she likes it too and she is in her 60s.
Customer Review: you can't get it to start? -- don't blame the product Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
it's funny reading these reviews where folks throw there hands up and say the dynaflex doesn't work. it works. this where i defend the product--go look on youtube and search for "dynaflex"--you will see this exact version of dynaflex performing excellently.
as far as i know this gyro has been around in one form or another since the 70's. my memory is that it didn't used to come with a string. the trick with it is getting the feel to make it accelerate. it can take awhile. although this recent version comes with a string to get it going, you don't need a string at all--matter of fact i would say avoid the string so you can get the feel for making it hum on your own. if you can find the feel, with a little practice you can get it going from even very slow speeds.
remember when you learned your first trick with a yo-yo? -- it took some time to learn. the dynaflex is no different.
so i said my piece here because i'm bothered people say it is a faulty product. it isn't. it works. you have to spend time with it. don't buy it if you don't plan to spend time it.
Customer Review: Fun Ball Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
This is a really cool device once you get it started. Actually getting it started is the hard part, it took me over a day to figure out. The instructional video is not helpful at all, because it is misleading. Some of my friends and I spent forever trying to get it to start and no one could make it work.
I finally figured out how to get it to work. The trick is you have to get a really good starting spin to begin with, it's very difficult to do without using the starting string they provide. That was my main problem, I kept trying to start it with the "advanced" methods such as flicking it with my thumb or "karate chop". When I used the string again, and made sure to pull as fast as I possibly could, then I was able to get it going.
Then you can just hold your forearm straight and rotate your hand in a circle, you will feel it speeding up. Then you just have to rotate faster to speed it up more, which takes practce and forearm strength to be able to rotate faster.
Customer Review: Works great Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
Many of the reviews I read on this gave me pause to purchase one. Almost all the ones that I read said good things about it "once you got it going". In addition to the Dynaflex Pro, I ordered the docking station automatic starter. This got me up and running right out of the box.
After using it for a while, I tried some of the manual starting methods. I was miserably unsuccessful in getting it started using this method, even after watching the DVD. So had I not bought the docking station too, I may have had disappointment right off the bat too. So those of you thinking of buying this item, I highly recommend getting an automatic start too. For those that own the Dynaflex Pro, and dislike it because you can not get it started, go ahead and add the docking station, you'll be glad you did.
As for the product itself, it is too soon to say if I will see results. I bought it due to carpal tunnel syndrome. I does give my forearms a workout, so I hold out high hopes for it.
Customer Review: This thing works very well! Starting it was REALLY EASY WITH THE INCLUDED STRING! Got it on the first try! Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
Ok for starters just let me state that I started this with the string the first time I tried it. I still can't get it to start using the "advanced methods", who cares!? The string works, I don't need to bother with any other method. The string is very simple.
Just wind the string and pull it out. You don't need to apply even 40% of your force with the string to get it going good enough to light up. When it lights up your golden, that means it is going well and you can start the exercise.
Really if you can't get it started with the string you have some serious problems in general. Maybe you should consider purchasing the model that comes with the autostart dock sold here on Amazon. If you think its worth all of the extra money to avoid using the string then I guess you could do that.
Very addicting and it definitely feels like it is working. As a computer worker I think this is a "must have" product.
