Customer Review: I'm disappointed

I'm in the process of replacing all my old (5 - 10 yr) flashlights with LED ones. As a physicist and engineer who loves to tinker, I've bought several units to play with. I'm disappointed in this one. I think the main reason for the high price is the beautifully sculpted metal housing. There's some serious machining there: knurling, flares, finger grooves. The inside of the barrel is lined with an insert that has molded or extruded channels. Looks like a heat sink, though I don't know why it would need one unless the batteries run hot. Unlike the other reviews, I don't find this light too bright. The small Streamlight Nano and Keymate and the small Energizer Hard Case Pro Inspection light I bought recently are as bright or brighter. I expected more from a flashlight that runs on 2AA batteries. The main reason I bought this one is because it runs on AA, which I buy in bulk packs. The head does focus, but not much. On the plus side, the beam is fairly uniform...no dark spots or doughnuts. Another big minus: the switch is recessed in the end cap. I find it hard to turn on and off. If you want a flashlight that won't accidentally turn on/off, this one's for you. You can grab anywhere on the barrel, because there is no switch on the side. The switch is rubber covered. My finger nail tends to dig into it when I press the switch, which requires a hard push, and the recessed position makes it hard to press with the flat of your finger. You can signal with it if you hold it palm up, cop style. I have a feeling that the rubber will get cut up. If you are a woman with long fingernails, definitely stay away from this light. I may pickup a Maglite AA for comparison.
