Sports reviews of Confidence Fitness Space Saving X BikeCustomer Review: Straightfoward, affordable, efficient Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I ordered this bike from Golf Outlets of America for $159.99 (including tax and shipping) on April 15, 2009 and received it on April 21st, 2009 with standard UPS shipping. Nothing was damaged; it was packed well. My roommates and I put it together in 30 minutes without the instructions (they were included, but incomprehensible to us, since we have not assembled a bike before). Assembly was very straightforward.
I am of average health and have owned one exercise bike (Confidence 2 in 1 Elliptical Cross Trainer & Exercise Bike) prior to this purchase, on which a screw holding the right pedal stripped down so that it could not be held in anymore. The day that it broke down, I ordered this one. Although I had trained on the previous bike for about 6 months for an hour each day at the highest resistance, this new bike's resistance is far more challenging. It has 8 resistance settings, and I feel that 4 on this bike is equivalent to the highest setting on the previous one.
Some people have mentioned limits to the seat height range: I am 5'0, and the bike fits nicely at the lowest setting. I am also a student: although there is no actual book stand, my books sit well on the resistance knob at the front of the bike and lay on the handles. Others have mentioned that this bike is very quiet, and I was skeptical while making the purchase, but it is surprisingly quiet, even when using higher resistances and on wood floors.
The seat is hard, like the 2 in 1 bike, but after having ridden for awhile on the previous one, it does not bother me. One of my roommates sits on either a towel or a pillow and says that it takes care of the problem. I have not tried the gel pads available.
I am very happy with this purchase so far (some have mentioned that there were problems after a month of usage, so I will wait and see) and do recommend it to anyone who is considering. I hope this information is helpful.
Customer Review: $10 cheaper if you buy direct from the seller on their website Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I was originally going to buy a Schwinn to replace a Nordic Track bike that is exhibiting signs of parts wear after a few years of regular use. I stumbled upon this foldable bike and since space is a premium in my apt (my current bike, albeit invaluable to my workout, sticks out like a sore thumb in my family/tv/living room), I decided to research this previously-unknown-to-me foldable bike option a bit more. I do want to alert buyers that after reading some of the reviews here and complaints about the shipping price, I did a search online and found that in the US it is only distributed by Golf Outlets of America based in California (the company that you are buying it from via Amazon), but if you buy from Golf Outlets of America directly, the price is currently (as of March 25, 2008) $99.99 and not the $109.99 that Amazon charges. Shipping via the company's site is the same $40 that Amazon charges (I'm guessing that the product ships from Golf Outlets of America whether you buy it via Amazon's site or the company's own site - hence the same shipping charge), but in my case given the relatively low price of the bike, plus its shipping weight and given the fact that it is shipping cross country from California(in my case as I am on the East Coast), I can live with the somewhat high shipping price. $40 is not too much if you factor in the weight and put the delivery into some context, e.g., consider that a local furniture company would likely charge more to deliver an end table to your house. Sure, I wish shipping were cheaper, but all in all, not so bad. You can save a little money though by buying direct from the company and avoiding the middleman - which is Amazon in this case. Thought I'd pass on that tip.
Customer Review: The Perfect Little Exercise Bike. I am Pleasantly Surprised. Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
So, I fell off a chair while trying to kill a spider. He won. I received a Level 3 Sprained Ankle. Ouch!! Physical Therapist says "Go get an Exercise Bike." I'm like, "The one that my 74 year old Mother uses?" Yes, she says, exactly.
So, who I am to argue with two torn ligaments and a very good Physical Therapist? I came right to Amazon, read the reviews, and wanted something small and cheap. I figured I would use it for a month or two and toss it into the garage.
I have to say, that I am so pleasantly surprised with this bike!
It is sturdy, silent, and I can just put my iPod on and ride for 30 to 45 minutes with the tension level at 6 or 7 and it is a great workout! I am 5'5 and the height is perfect. My husband is 6'2 and can not ride it- he is too tall, bike is too small. No biggie- it's really just for me, kind of like my Pilates DVD's. He can jog and I can bike until I'm fully healed and start the heavy-duty walking again. But you know what? I will not be tossing the bike in the garage- it is an effective, weather-impervious workout, and I enjoy it.
Use hand weights if you want while riding to increase your heart rate and work those arms! I use 3 pound weights- and I can feel it after.
Also- THE SEAT IS HARD. I purchased the Sunlite Cloud Nine Gel Bicycle Seat Cover and it really helps. Still not exactly "soft and cushy" but no bike seat ever is, so the gel seat cover makes a huge difference.
Husband put it together in 25 minutes and it arrived in one day. Two thumbs up!
Customer Review: A GREAT BIKE FOR THE PRICE! Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
this is a great small excercise bike!
i am looking for a exercise machine that allows me to work on everyday.
clearly treadmill is not the choice because i do not want to make such big noise to my neighbor. so my thought comes to exercise bike.
searching for a while in amazon and i found out this bike.
and i decide to buy it for just two reasons:
1. high rating
2. cheap for the price
ordered last week and arrived today (7/16/2008).
it's quite heavy when it comes in (reasonable for an exercise machine).
spent about an hour putting it together by myself, alone.
after trying for a 15 mins, it feels just great!
pros (mostly are what most amazon reviewers said):
1. ultra quiet. (my old computer makes more noise than it)
2. 8 lvls of tension, which 4-5 tension is quite enough for me.
3. takes up a very small amount of space, easy to move from one room to another (there's two wheels on the back that allows you to pull it w/o energy)
cons:
the "calories" counter doesn't seem to work well. it goes up in the same rate with tension 1 and tension 8 (which normally tension 8 should take up a lot more calories than tension 1). but other than this the monitor works fine (timer, distance, speed works really well).
and.... that's about it.
great bike for the price, definately worth the cost!!
i am glad i bought it.
Customer Review: Works great for me! Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I've been looking for a low to moderate priced Stowable/SMALL exercise bike and this is it!!! It is fairly small by comparison to others AND does fold AND has small wheels to roll when folded! It has a very good resistance/drag on it. My last one had a belt and this is SO MUCH BETTER!!! It looks to be built very well for the cost/weight. It is comfortable to sit on and to use. The seat is adjustable and the display easy to see/use. The shipping was $40 something but came in two days (California) and the box was in GREAT shape! It was very easy to put together. ALL parts were well marked and directions easy to follow with a wrench included. Looking at the picture, the two bars that are the feet required two bolt/nuts each, the pedals had to be screwed in, the seat with 3 bolts to the post and the post into the upright tube (easily adjustable). The handlebars had two bolts and the display slid onto a bracket on the bars. The display required installation of the batteries and I had to plug it into the cable coming up from the pedal housing. That's it. we're riding!!! While I'm thin and tall, it is very stable and while I am on the last notch for the seat, it is comfortable and my knees fit under the handlebars. I would definitely recommend it to you AND to friends. (I live in a 32 ft RV so 1. yes it fits. 2. yes it folds. 3. no, there is no longer room to dance in the dining area when it is 'up'.
