This is your standard middle-of-the-road propane lantern. Two mantles, adjustable output, plastic case, plastic base with feet.
It is nothing spectacular, but I give it 5 stars because it does exactly what it is supposed to do with no problems. It is as bright as you will ever need.
One propane canister lasts around 8 hours. Mantles last forever if you don't disturb them. The case is a must. Anyone who has owned a propane lantern without a case is familiar with having to buy replacement globes all the time.
The mantles can be lit by basically anything with a flame. A cigarette lighter does the job fine, as does a wad of lit pine needles or a twisted paper towel or a match or whatever. Lighting it is no problem whatsoever.
The hiss is typical. The construction is tough.

I bought this about a month ago and just used it this weekend. It is so very simple to assemble, light, and use. When I purchased this one, I gave serious thought to paying extra for the auto-light feature, but this match light works flawlessly and simply. It is exactly what I want and operates just how I expect. I especially like that it comes with the case. My previous lantern ended up pretty mangled, so the case will help keep this one as pristine as a camping lantern can be. Thanks Amazon and Coleman!Customer Review: Love it!!!

Just back from my son's first cub scout camp out and this lantern was flawless. I highly recommend it and would love to own a second. Ran on high for 8 hours and still had some left when we shut it down. I took it to the pack leaders dinner on Saturday night and hung it from their pavillion beam and it lit the whole surrounding area as the pack leader read stories to the scouts into the late evening hours. The lantern is bright enough for reading or late-night cooking. The wire-clip mantles are easier to attach than the traditional string tie mantles, especially for somewhat arthritic fingers (like mine). The instruction booklet mentions nothing about having to push in the knob to start the gas flowing, so the first time I lit it was a little frustrating.
It's a Coleman lantern - it works - enough said.

I was actually given this lantern as a gift for camping, and someone stole it!! I had a terrible time finding the exact model... doesn't seem like any retailers carry it anymore. It's very easy to use, and it's very difficult to find one that comes with its own case. Thank heavens I was able to find one before my next camping excursion. You will love it!!
