Description of Coleman Tent Light

The Coleman Tent Light is a great addition to any camping trip. The strong, built-in magnet allows for easy attachment without damaging the tent fabric. The light operates on four AA batteries (sold separately). The powerful xenon bulb is replaceable.
A great addition to any camping trip, the Coleman tent light will keep your tent illuminated during the evening hours. The light attaches to your tent poles easily and securely via the built-in magnet, so you needn't worry about damaging your tent fabric. The light's powerful, replaceable Krypton bulb, meanwhile, offers plenty of light for reading, playing games, or chatting. Best of all, the light--which operates on four AA batteries (sold separately)--won't get in your way while you sleep or hang out, unlike standard lanterns. Made in China, the light includes an easy on/off switch.

About Coleman
The Coleman Company has been creating and innovating products for recreational outdoor use since W.C. Coleman started selling gasoline-powered lanterns in 1900. Inventor of the hugely popular fold-up camp stove, Coleman developed a plastic liner for his galvanized steel coolers in 1957--the birth of the modern cooler--and the company has been improving their utility and design ever since. The array of products that bear the Coleman name now includes just about everything you might need to work or play outdoors, from tents and sleeping bags to boats, backpacks, and furniture.

Sports reviews of Coleman Tent Light

Customer Review: Good value, but not quite 5-star
Sport shop rating: 4 Stars

SUMMARY
Meets expectations. Easy to attach to tent and will not move once attached. However, the light is not very bright and is best used as a secondary light in a larger tent. It may be okay in a 1-2 person tent, but in a family sized tent, you will need additional light if you are going to be reading, playing games, etc. Overall, a good value for the price, but not quite a 5 star product.

PLUSES
Easily attachable to the tent. The magnet is very strong and once you have the light positioned where you want it, it is not going to go anywhere.
Lightweight and compact. Its' small size means that you can shove it in the tent bag so it is there when you set up camp.

DELTAS
The light is not very bright. Guessing that it is approximately the brightness of a 40-60 watt bulb.

Customer Review: Good for the Price
Sport shop rating: 4 Stars

We are just came back from our camping trip. Although I bought this product more than one year ago, this is my first time to use it. We put this one at the inside tent ceiling which is close to the tent door entrance, so we can just turned it on or off upon get inside or out. It's easy to set up, no problem at all; and easy to use. The reason I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the light beam is not very strong; which could be good or bad. It's good for general use, but if you need to see something more clearly like I did when I took off my contact lenses and put them into the carrying case, I still need to turn on my flash light for a close look. But, that may means I need to buy another one and install it close to my carrying case. Anyway, it's a good and useful product and good use of the money.

Customer Review: Good light - not so bright
Sport shop rating: 4 Stars

This is a pretty good tent light and reasonably priced.
Pros: It's small and easy to pack. It safely attaches to the tent without causing and problems. It's easy to use. It works. Flexible.
Cons: The light it gives is a bit dim. Many battery based lanterns give off much more light (although not as flexible in positioning). It's difficult to position with just one person because you have to have the magnet outside the tent and the light inside, so unless you can reach to the point outside where you want it, then you need to have someone else hold the magnet in place while you place the light inside the tent. This isn't much of a problem though.

Overall I gave it 4 stars because it works and it's easy to use and low priced. It could use a brighter light, but otherwise is pretty good.

Customer Review: works as advertised...
Sport shop rating: 4 Stars

it is bright enough, runs off 4 AA batteries and has great battery life. I just wish i had done more research first, cuz for a few bucks more you can get one with a 50' range remote control. That was my fault though. But other than that gripe, this light definitely works, and has a VERY powerful magnet. Requires 2 people to mount/remove the light; one outside the tent and one inside.

On a side note, if you are camping with people that like to play pranks, DO NOT mount this light over your head in the tent, because someone outside can pull the magnet off and it will fall on your head which i imagine would be quite painful.

Customer Review: Great light for anywhere!
Sport shop rating: 4 Stars

This light is bright, can be attached to either a metal RV wall surface or through a tent wall using the strong magnet on the back, and can be detached easily and be used as a hand-held flashlight. The batteries last forever, and I never needed more than just one of these babies to light up my entire tent or tent trailer!

I give it 4 stars instead of 5 only because it's heavy, and if your tent walls aren't tight enough it can cause it to sag... but even that's an easy fix, just don't attach the light to the wall (it works just as well sitting on the ground)!
