The Coleman tent kit comes with everything you need to set up and break down your tent. The kit starts with four sturdy 10-inch steel tent stakes, which keep your tent from blowing away in the middle of the night. The solid rubber mallet, meanwhile, makes it easy to pound the stakes into the ground, so you don't have to search fruitlessly for a nearby rock. When it's time to pack up, you can turn to the easy-to-use tent stake puller, which keeps your fingers from cramping up. And no one wants to bring the campsite home, which is why the kit includes a handy whisk broom/dust pan combo for cleaning the tent floor. A must-have for frequent campers, the tent comes with a handy mesh storage bag.

About Coleman
The Coleman Company has been creating and innovating products for recreational outdoor use since W.C. Coleman started selling gasoline-powered lanterns in 1900. Inventor of the hugely popular fold-up camp stove, Coleman developed a plastic liner for his galvanized steel coolers in 1957--the birth of the modern cooler--and the company has been improving their utility and design ever since. The array of products that bear the Coleman name now includes just about everything you might need to work or play outdoors, from tents and sleeping bags to boats, backpacks, and furniture.

Sports reviews of Coleman Tent Kit

Customer Review: Handy but not needed
Sport shop rating: 3 Stars

This set is of good quality. These stakes are the only type we can use for more than a season. They do not bend or get lost in the sand. The top of the stake does come lose so you have to make sure it is pulled to the top before you put it in the ground. The rubber mallet is good quality and fairly heavy. The stake puller worked out really well especially in the sand. The broom and dust pan was really too small to do much good but was handy for spot cleaning. I still have to have my regular size broom to sweep out the tent before folding it. I was kind of disappointed with the quality of the broom and dust pan. They were just not as hearty as I have come to expect from Coleman. I would not say this set is a must have for camping, but it does come in handy.

Customer Review: Stake puller and stakes are weak
Sport shop rating: 3 Stars

I bought this because I wanted the stake puller. It was broken after the first use. If you set up a tent in your backyard for your kids this would be fine. If you camp in the midwest like Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana and Michigan areas that have a lot of clay this will be useless. The stakes bent going in the clay and the puller bent after the third stake while removing them. It would be better to have a cheap claw hammer. The broom and dust pan are kind of nice, but hammering into clay or rocky soil was difficult with a rubber mallet. You would be better off buying a claw hammer and whisk separately.

Bottom line-Great for light easy camping in backyards or soft soil but useless in rugged terrain.

The rubber mallet is worth it, but you can get them for $2 at wally world. The stakes really aren't that great...... try these if you are really looking for good stakesMSR Ground Hog Stake Kit.
The stake puller is a joke, a simple eye hook on the bottom of the mallet works better (again part of the $2 wally world special).
The dust pan is also a joke, it would take you an hour to dust a 6 person tent.

For $10 its worth it. but if you are after good stakes, buy the ones above, if you want a good mallet, go to wally world, and if you want a good dustpan, go to the grocery store.

This kit REALLY came in handy. My only complaint is that the handle to the mallet broke the very first time I used it. The grain was weak. I would be very satisfied to have it replaced. Otherwise, the other items are great and have served me well. I am a traveling writer/photographer experiencing the U.S., chronicling the adventure on my website, www.mikalogue.com

Customer Review: Meh

The dust pan and stakes work great. The mallet handle is made of low quality wood. Save yourself the weight/space and pack a hatchet to do the hammering. The stake puller seems useful only if you're feeling lazy or don't want to put your fingers in dirt/snow.
