Description of Coleman SportCat PerfecTemp Catalytic Heater with InstaStart Technology

A great portable heater to take with you on a camping trip, to a sports outing or in your golf cart, the Coleman SportCat InstaStart Heater features a 1500-BTU heater that will run for up to 14 hours on a single 16.4-ounce can of propane (sold separately). The SportCat features PerfecTemp Catalytic technology, for safe, efficient, flameless heat, while Coleman's InstaStart battery ignition provides push-button, matchless lighting. The SportCat Heater has a detachable base for extra stability, and an easy-grip handle for comfortable, convenient carrying. The built-in eyelets allow you to tie the heater to most surfaces for added security. Limited 5-year warranty.
Whether you're sleeping in an electricity-free cabin or an outdoor tent, the Coleman SportCat PerfectTemp propane heater will warm up any camping adventure. The SportCat, which attaches to the top of a 16.4-ounce propane cylinder, provides plenty of warmth when you need it, with an output of 1,500 BTUs for up to 14 hours per tank. As a result, those chilly fall and spring evenings won't seem quite so inhumane while you sleep. The heater is also easy to light: just flip the electronic ignition switch and you're set. No messing with frustrating matches or finicky gas valves. And thanks to the SportCat's stable, detachable base, you can rest the heater on pretty much any surface. Also equipped with an integrated handle for easy carrying, the SportCat delivers all the warmth you need for your camping expeditions.

Note: proper ventilation is required for the SportCat to work safely.

About Coleman
More than 100 years ago, a young man with an entrepreneurial spirit and a better idea began manufacturing lanterns in Wichita, Kansas. His name was W.C. Coleman, and the company he founded would change life in America. A man plagued with such poor vision he sometimes had to ask classmates to read aloud to him, Coleman saw a brilliant light in 1900 in a drugstore window that stopped him in his tracks. He inquired about the light inside and discovered he was able to read even the small print on a medicine bottle by the illumination. The lamps had mantles, not wicks, and were fueled by gasoline under pressure instead of coal oil. Soon afterward, Coleman started a lighting service that offered a "no light, no pay" clause--a big step forward for merchants who were burned by inferior products that rarely worked--and drew substantial interest from businesses that wanted to keep their lights on after dark.

In the ensuing years, Coleman expanded its product line well beyond lanterns. The company's current catalog is thick with products that make spending time outdoors a pleasure. There are coolers that keep food and drinks cold for days on end, comfortable airbeds that won't deflate during the night, a complete line of LED lights that last for years, powerful portable grills that cook with an authentic open-grill flame, and much, much more. Coleman has truly fashioned much of our outdoor camping experience, and expects to do so for generations to come.

Sports reviews of Coleman SportCat PerfecTemp Catalytic Heater with InstaStart Technology

Customer Review: Nice little heater
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

I bought this because it was small and burned clean enought to use inside a tent. I winter camp. I don't expect to keep a tent "hot" when it's 10F and surrounded by 2 feet of snow in the UP of MI or on cold windy night way way up north in Canada. I was pleased with the performance of this heater. I use a 4 season Cabella's Alaskan Guide brand tent and this little heater kept the tent at a very comfortable temp on the cold 6 degree nights. I also use this little guy outside when I am ice fishing to keep my legs and hands warm as I sit for hours on end exposed on the ice. I scratch my head when I read the reviews that claim this heater won't heat up a car or small trailer and wonder if they have the same product as mine or maybe their expectations are just different than mine. Works great for my uses. I do have a bigger heater for my ice shanty though. Little heaters heat a little. This one does a great job. Don't expect more and if you do, get a bigger heater.

Customer Review: Best personal heater I've ever owned. I value warmth like you value air.
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

I purchased this heater to use in a hunters blind. Superb. Does exactly what I needed it to do. Keeps me quite toasty. The smell people who purchase this refer to isnt that bad. I get the same smell from every heater I turn on after its been off awhile. Goes away quickly. Lights fast and easily. Turn it on, count to ten, then ignite it. First try every time. Also purchased the bag to carry it. It was worth the $15 I got it for. Holds two bottles too. Great products at great prices from great manufacturers. Coleman Sportcat is the best.

Customer Review: It's a personal heater....NOT A BONFIRE!!!
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

This small heater puts out a rather impressive amount of heat for it's size. You will be dissapointed if you think it should heat a large tent at freezing temps. But if you need enough heat for your hands at a game or heat a smaller tent, you should be happy with the Sportcat. It is just a matter of buying the right tool for the job. I use mine in my boat to warm my hands while fishing or in the deer stand for the same purpose. It comfortably heats my 1 person box blind. I use it any time I need some warmth and don't have electricity.

Customer Review: Nice Little Heater
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

This little heater is very nice. It is a lower output unit, so it has its limitations its power, but that is clearly noted in the description. I wanted a small heater that was lightweight enough that I could put it in my hiking pack for very cold nights to deal with the bitter cold. It can heat a moderate size tent well enough. I am very pleased. I agree with the advice of breaking it in and burning off the initial smell. It is an interesting smell at first.

Customer Review: Great little heater.

I bought this little heater for my one man camo tent for muzzleloader season in Pa.It gets down to the single digits out there. This little heater worked great and lasted 16 hrs on the low setting. It kept me warm and kept my black power rifle from misfiring due to the freezing temperatures.I would tell anybody to buy this little beauty.
