I've bought a lot of outdoors products and always find myself comparing the Coleman product to another brand product. Usually, the Coleman product is a little more expensive and occasionally it'll be enough where I by the other brand. It always amazes me though that when I actually buy a Coleman product that it's a great quality product that seems to have thought of everything.
This Coleman Beach Shade is the perfect example of a quaility Coleman product. It was a little more expensive than others that I was considering, but when I received it and set it up, I knew that I made a great choice.
First off, this beach shade is LARGE. we were able to lay 3 beach towels (left to right) inside of the tent and on the door/skirt making a really large area for our 1 year old to play in the shade. With only 3 poles to run through the beach shade, set up took me only 10 minutes on my own. After it was up, I filled the weight bags with sand, tied them to the spots on the beach shade, buried them, and that was it. It always amazes me how much thought Coleman puts into their products and on this beach shade, bonuses/nice touches include the rear zippered window to allow a breeze to pass through the beach shade, a small clothes line inside the beach shade to hang things on, and two mesh pockets on the inside to store things (cups, toys, phones, etc). Also if you need privacy (we changed our daughter from her bathing suit into a dry outfit for naps), you just zip up the front door and you've got your own private changing room on the beach! These features are really nice touches that make the beach shade more than just a beach shade and really are worth the Coleman premium that you might have to pay.
We used our beach shade on a weeklong trip to the ocean and even though I had to set it up and take it down each day, the trip wouldn't have been the same without it. There is NO WAY that my one year old would've enjoyed sitting out in the sun for hours at a time. With the beach shade, she played in it, ate in it and even took naps in it while we laid out just outside of the tent. At the end of the day, it took 10 minutes to break it down and roll it back into the carrying bag.
