Sports reviews of Coleman Red Canyon 17-Foot by 10-Foot 8-Person Modified Dome Tent

Customer Review: Held up to 45 mph winds and driving rain!
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

We were sooo happy to have this new tent with us for a week of camping in August. First off, the size is awesome for 2 adults and 2 young girls with "lots of stuff". Including a friend with all her "stuff"; and air mattresses for all! We were pleased to have so much room left over to walk and dress etc. Secondly, we were especially thrilled with the shelter itself. The weather got real bad and for 2 1/2 days we were held up in the tent due to tropical storm force wind and driving rain. Literally, 45 mph winds and inches of rain throughout days/nights. We actually prepared this review on the 2nd night....After the 2nd morning, the only place there was some leakage was where two mattresses were pushed up against the tent walls and the water seeped through. It was pretty easy to put up with 2 adults. Thank you Coleman!!!

Customer Review: The best family tent you can buy for $100
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

We've had this tent for 5 years now and it's never let us down. We camp year around and have a standing joke in our family when we camp, "the chance of rain is good". We've had this tent in 6 different states and through a wide variety of storms, even the kind where you make the decision to stay and hold the tent walls up from the inside or run to the bathrooms. The only problem we've had was self inflicted. We got lazy and stopped unzipping the door all the way and squeezing through. This caused the teeth weaken in one spot and now the zipper broke. But, we've decided to get the same tent again.
P.S. To those who like to comment about the tent being cold in the winter, you've got to be kidding right? Let me know when you find a tent with an R value!

Customer Review: Could Not Have Asked For a Better Tent
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

This has been the best tent I have ever owned. It has carried my family through four camping trips, and numerous severe rainstorms. We have only had a problem with leaking on one trip, but the rain was coming down an inch or two an hour with "damaging winds". The leaking amounted to about 2 tablespoons of water--hardly an inconvenience. We have never sealed the tent or seams.

As far as accommodations go, we set up a king-size air mattress in the center with a twin on both sides, and still have some room to move around.

Set-up is rather simple, and can be done alone, but help is always nice especially with the rainfly. It is important that the floor is taut when staked, otherwise water could pool on the seams.

Customer Review: Good Tent Overall
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

I bought this tent several weeks ago and used it last weekend for camping in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Overall I am happy with it... Assembly was quick, the directions were easy to follow.
There is a good amount of usable floor space. We had plenty of room with three air matresses, space for clothes and other items. There is a mesh pouch that installs at the peak and I liked it because it was easy to tell at a glance if your small items were there. One drawback I see is that the screen windows at the ends are only covered by the fly, the only way to "seal" them is to lower the fly so it rests on them. There was no rain on our trip so no feedback on how well it stood up. I would recommend this tent.

Customer Review: GOOD TENT
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

This tent was easy to put up and not as easy to pack back into a small bag...but possible! During camping, it got pretty dang windy and the tent held up find and only once did the front corner buckel and I had to stick my hand up and push it back and it popped back in place. It real strong gusts of wind and got down to about 40 - 42 degrees that night. It was a little chilly but luckly we had warm blankets. The tent was only about 6 ft tall in the center, so not a lot of room to stand straight up but the low profile was nice cuz everyone else's tents were coming unstaked and banded up looking (There's were quite a bit taller)
I recommend this tent, I definately would want 8 people in this tent!
