$83 bucks for this tent with free shipping can't be beat!
I've had it out backyard camping 3 times. It's easy to set-up and HUGE.
SET-UP. It's a breeze. Lay it out in a large spot. Run the shock-corded poles through the appropriate places on the tent. Tack it down. Toss on the rainfly. Tack it down. Camp. Despite it being big, I was able to do it by myself without much effort.
TEAR-DOWN. Very easy. Good luck getting it all back in the bag though.
NICE:
-Double zippers on door - allows you to run power cord in without large gaps for bugs to get it.
-Tub floor should prevent flooding from below.
-Plenty of room for 2 adults, 2 seven year-olds, air mattresses. If it'd fit through the door, I'd wager you could fit two regular king size mattresses in there.
ISSUES:
-Tent pegs are puny. Luckily, we had no wind. Bought some bigger pegs for less than $10.
-Little modesty without rainfly. Top of tent is mostly screen.
-Tub floor, makes it necessary to step up to get in/out. Forgetting leads to skinned knees and palms.
CONSIDERATIONS I COULDN'T EVALUATE: Cold weather performance. Rain performance. Wind performance.
I don't think you could find a better tent that's this size for under $100. Amazon has a great deal on a great tent.
Customer Review: Great family tent Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I only camp during the summer months in New England, and am basing my review on the performance of this tent in those climates. I do not know how it performs in colder temps, or in snowy conditions, so please keep that in mind.
I purchased this tent at a store about 4 years ago. I was replacing a smaller tent, and wanted something big enough for all of my gear and my queen size air mattress, and still be able to stand upright in the tent. I also wanted something that was easy to set up. This tent meets all of those requirements, and more.
I usually camp with my wife and two sons, and there is plenty of room in here for us, plus another family if we really wanted. It's very easy to set up, with just four poles, and can be done by just one person in about 15 minutes if you're good with tents. The rain fly is easier to put on with someone's help, but with a well placed throw can be down solo. As far as protection against moisture goes, this tent surpasses expectations. I did not seal the seems at all, and in the 4 years I've been using it, its never had a drop of water in it. We even had one really bad storm in which numerous tents around us had sizable pools of water in them after the storm, and I was happy to see that mine was bone dry.
Anyway, I love this tent, and plan to use it for years to come. Highly recommended.
Customer Review: Just set it up Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I haven't had a chance to actually go camping yet, but I will as soon as this crazy Florida weather decides that summer is over.
I set it up for the first time day before yesterday in my backyard with the help of my sister-in-law. It was easy to navigate and I only had to refer to the instructions for the rainfly. I would definitely recommend having two people to set it up, but it is probably possible for one person. Some people don't like that the instructions are sewn into the bag, that's a matter of personal preference. I like it because that way they don't blow away or get lost. But now that I've set it up once, I won't need them again. The best part is that I got all the pieces back in the bag with little effort. I just paid attention to how it unfolded and did my best to fold it the same.
The picture makes it look deceptively small. Once I set it up and actually looked inside, I was amazed at how large and spacious it is. I'm 5'8" and I only had to slightly duck my head to clear the door, and once inside I could stand with ease in the entire center square. I've never had a tent I could stand in before, and I have to say I like it a lot. I haven't tested it yet but I think I could probably get 3 queen mattresses in there, definitely one queen and two twins no problem.
I'll add to this review once it's seen some rain.
Customer Review: So glad we got this tent! Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
We are a family of 3 and first time campers. We originally bought another tent with a hinged door and it took us an hour to set it up together and the rain fly was a tremendous pain in the you-know-what! One of the poles on this other tent broke when we were test setting it up and it was just a nightmare so we returned it. We saw this tent in in ad and decided to try it out. We are so glad to have gotten this tent, what a difference! It took the 2 of us only 20 minutes to set up the tent w/ the rain fly and no hassle, so easy. We took it out for a 2 night camping trip and we got rained on 3 times and not a drip! We even had the door screen window and the rear window open during one storm and no water came in. We did not have time to seal the seams before we left, but the seams are in the inside of the tent and were dry as a bone. This tent is gigantic, we had a queen and twin air mattresses in it and we will be bringing our king air mattress next time instead of the queen. We had a ton of gear, the 2 of us, our 5 year old daughter and a large dog inside with plenty of room to spare, we could even fit a small table with chairs if we wanted. This tent was easy to pack up and all of the pieces fit back in the carrying bag with no problem, unlike the first tent we got. Very well made product and user friendly. We highly recommend this tent.
Customer Review: Awsome Tent! Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I love this tent! It arrived super quick and we were able to put it up in no time at all. The rain fly took us a bit longer until we understood the concept. The directions are not the greatest but they're fine. The tent is BIG with plenty of room for my husband, myself and our two little ones. It has little pockets on either side to store your wallet, keys, phone, etc. It also has a little clothes line that goes across the back. There is a little port hole out the back for cords and/or ventilation. My kids love that hole and they are able to fit through it. They think it's great fun to stick both their heads out the hole at the same time. We sealed the seams ahead of our first trip and had no leakage, although it did not rain during our trip. We had to put the tent up in the dark on our first trip and had no trouble at all. Easy to put up but I am 5'3" so I don't think it would have been easy to do alone. We put two queen sized air mattresses on either side of the tent and then put our bags in the middle so that we could change clothes while standing. Spacious and durable tent. My only complaint is that we could not get it back into the bag. Close but not quite. I'd like to see someone do it! I wish they had made the bag just a bit bigger or had some sort of expandable material to help fit it in.
