Description of Coleman Queen-Sized Quickbed with 4D Pump and Wrap 'N' Roll StorageThe Coleman Queen-Sized Quickbed With 4D Pump is a great choice for camping, overnight guests, or anywhere you need an extra bed. Measuring 78" long by 60" wide when inflated (fitting standard queen-sized sheets), the Quickbed is made of heavy-duty, puncture-resistant PVC, with 48 coils inside and a soft suede top for extra comfort. The Quickbed is easy to inflate and deflate, thanks to the included 4D pump (requires four D batteries, not included). Like all Coleman inflatable products, this Quickbed features Coleman's Airtight System, guaranteed not to leak. And the built-in Wrap 'N' Roll storage system makes packing and storing quick and easy. Large enough to easily accommodate two adults or three small children, this queen-size Quickbed gets its name from Double-Lock valves that allow it to inflate 10 times quicker than air beds with pinch valves. Inflation time is roughly three minutes with the included QuickPump, which runs on four D batteries (not included). And when morning rolls around you'll find that, thanks to the Double-Lock valves, the air beds deflate 20 times faster as well. Keep one of these queen-size flocked air beds around for camping trips, unexpected guests, or kids' slumber parties (the mattress will accommodate fitted or flat queen-size sheets). The heavy-duty PVC construction is designed to endure all sorts of abuse, but if anything should happen, a repair kit is included. The green-flocked rayon top can be a little prone to dust, but it does add warmth and softness for colder nights. The air bed can hold up to 600 pounds. Its 56 coils and 6-inch side gussets provide support and, unless you sit down from a height, keep you from bumping the ground. One-year limited warranty. --Ariel Meadow Stallings

We use this every weekend with the kids in their bedroom. Make like a mini camping trip for them.
Customer Review: Durable, competently designed product Sport shop rating: 4 Stars
Okay, first the bad news: if you recall the consequences of the Ideal Gas Law from your high school physics, air volume decreases when it is cooled. This bed holds a lot of air. Be prepared to add some more when you wake up in the night to visit the little boy's room. Please, folks, this **does not** mean that your bed is leaking! If you can't find a leak by submerging the mattress, you probably don't have one.
After using this product both in the woods and on the family room floor, I can say that it is both competently designed and reasonably durable. While wiggling may disturb your partner a little, you'll both get used to it in short order. The material is thick and won't be easily punctured. The upper surface has a soft texture that prevents you and your mate from sliding off. If you are careful to observe how the bed is folded as you set it up, re-rolling it will be a cinch. The directions are printed indelibly on the pump pocket, instead of on a piece of paper that gets lost.
The pump is used for both inflating and deflating the bed. The pump's head reattaches to the opposite pump hole when you want to reverse direction. Powered by four D batteries, the pump does these jobs quickly without draining the batteries after one or two uses. The bed itself is double valved, one external push-in type, and a second internal that you push the mattress nozzle against--which really helps you keep the air in when you're attempting inflation. When you first buy the mattress, you may want to fill it up a few times and air it out so the vinyl smell dies down a bit.
The best news is that there are tents that are large enough to hold this and still not fill up the trunk of your car. Just check tent dimensions before purchase.
I personally would like a more slender profile on the bed. It is not quite large enough to naturally hold a queen size fitted sheet, so I don't see the point of making it so thick. Less air and more internal structure would be better for camping. Also the shipping box falls apart rather quickly--the product should come with a durable storage sack, but you'll have to supply your own.
Customer Review: Comfortable for short periods, poor inflation method Sport shop rating: 4 Stars
Pros:
- This bed's comfortable! I slept on it for a week, and while it isn't a bed at a top quality hotel, it's more than OK in a pinch.
- The wrap scheme is a nice touch. In the product photo, the black bit coming out of the bottom right hand corner is actually a nylon sheet. After folding the inflatable part, the bed rolls up, and the nylon sheet wraps around, tying the package up. There's a convenient handle to the back to allow for easy carrying.
- Instead of a valve, the bed relies instead on a two-plug system. The nipple snaps down, to plug the inlet from both the inside and outside. This works well to prevent air leakage, but I could see how the soft plastic/rubber inlet could tear with heavy usage, thereby rendering the bed completely inoperable. However, after a week, with intermittent re-inflating (and therefore opening the closing the inlet a few times), no problem. This just looks like a wear and tear item.
Cons:
- The pump isn't the greatest. It's exceptionally loud (think a good-sized hair dryer), and not only that, there's no seal. You effectively match up the hole in the matress inlet to the hole in the pump. In effect, pressure on the inlet is the only thing preventing air to seep out when reinflating. Not a great design.
Overall, a comfortable, nice and firm mattress that could or should have a better inlet and pump design. Nevertheless, on the basis of comfort and the thick-feeling plastic used in the part to be lied upon, it doesn't feel overpriced.
