I actually purchased 2 of these for our base camp - one for cooking pasta while the other was cooking meat and veggies. These burners are built heavy and strong. The stove is nice and sturdy and is able to simmer as well as it can boil water. And let me tell you, this boiled water very quickly (with the lid on). I was quite impressed! I used to use only my charcoal grill which left us waiting a while for our meal. Now, we eat in no time after a long day of hiking. If you're looking to backpack with this, I would definitely look elsewhere due to the weight. However, for your family base camp, this is perfect!Customer Review: Makes camping food EASY!

This product is awesome!! I've been camping for years and have always built a fire to cook my food on. Now that I've been eating oatmeal for breakfast everyday, I wanted a quick way to continue to do this while camping without having to build a fire every morning for my bowl of oats. I used this and it was so easy and worked great! A canister of propane lasted me all week cooking breakfast every day along with most dinners. VERY NICE, DURABLE, HEATS REALLY FAST! BOILED WATER IN LESS THAT 3 MINUTES. GAS LASTS A GOOD WHILE! THIS ITEM HAS MADE ITS WAY INTO MY "THINGS NOT TO LEAVE BEHIND" LIST OF CAMPING/KAYAKING GEAR. I REALLY LIKE THIS BECAUSE I HAVE A PROPANE LANTERN AS WELL AND THIS ADDITION KEEPS ME FROM HAVING TO LUG AROUND TO MUCH FUEL. 2 CANS GET ME THROUGH A TYPICAL TRIP(2 DAYS). We take a couple of these stoves into the boundary waters every year and never have a problem. We accidentally left one out in a rain storm all day and the burner filled with water. Turned it over to drain out the majority of the water and fired it up. Only about half of the burner was lit at first, but it quickly burned off the rest of the water and was back to its old self. I love this stove!
BTW, I could have bought it cheaper locally if I'd know where to find it. Shop around.

Coleman makes the best camping gear and this stove attachment is perfect for backpacking. Its lightweight and is wide enough (8 inches) to steadily hold any pot or pan. The regulator can be turned down very low and still not be blown out by wind. Easily attaches to Coleman propane containers and has a nice canister base that is also steady. You really don't need more than one of these for two campers. Cleans easily as well.
