These lanterns are great and very affordable. They put out a lot of light. We have bought 4 of these to use during power outages (we've had a lot of snow this year). You can easily read with this lantern and it's perfect to keep by the bed when you need to get up during the night (with no power). The handy carry handle is a nice touch too. We initially bought the one that has high and low, but this one does just fine with it's good bright light. Take my advice, stock up now and you'll be glad to have this handy little gadget when your lights go out!Customer Review: good little light

this light is pretty good. it's small, notice the dimensions. plus it's called the "micropacker". we hang it in the middle of our tent for general light. it's not super bright by any means but the batteries last and it does the job. the slider thing that it has on it so you can direct the light in one direction is cool too if you need to take a walk to the car or bathroom. i payed 10 bucks w/ free shipping. for that price i would recommend it.Customer Review: excellent compact lantern

Wanted to purchase a special little lantern for my granchildren for a Halloween night cookout. Looked in department stores. All they had were flashlights. Finally found this Coleman lantern online. It totally fit the bill. Not too large; perfect for small hands, but definitely a quality light. We've not taken this camping yet, but we're finding uses for it all over the house. It works better than a flashlight when you're under a desk trying to figure out which wires go where.
I looked at a lot of reviews of similar products. This one looked best and I think we made a great choice.

Although the light wasn't quite as bright as a comparatively priced lantern, it was adequate. The 3 AA batteries powered the lantern surprisingly long. I left it on all night and was pleased that I could depend on it for emergencies and power outages.
