It just arrived and while other reviewers complain it's too small, I have to ask, too small for what? You're not going to dig a drainage ditch with this shovel, that's true, but it's the right size for a backpacking shovel, which is its main purpose. It folds up nicely and is very compact in the carrying case. Slightly weighty due to the steel, but I expect it will be rather durable as well. It does claim it can be used as a saw, but I don't think the teeth are sharp enough for that.Customer Review: Great for digging potty holes!

As any camper knows, you need to dig a pretty deep hole when you're camping, or else the smell will eventually drive you away from your site. This shovel didn't seem like it would be up to the task, but it actually worked like a champ. I was able to get 8 inches deep, which is pretty good as far as potty holes go. 8 inches is alot! Plus it folds down and it's easy to store. The only thing I didn't like is that the pick part broke off when I was using it to open a can.Customer Review: Small, Well Made Tool

What I'd like to find is something like the Army surplus entrenching tool I kept in my car many years ago, but this tool is a fairly satisfactory alternative. It's about half the size of the real thing so you can't go crazy with it, but considering its size (and the fact that it breaks down to a very handy size for storage) it is quite sturdy and well worth the price. I originally purchased this item as a gift. it's awesome and comes in handy if your the camper type, but the head of the shovel is a bit small... don't get me wrong, it works awesome like that, but if your trying to find a mini folding shovel that actually shovels, then look elsewhere, this one works more as a digging pick, still an awesome investment i think...Customer Review: Small - But Well-Made

As everyone as mentioned - this is a very small shovel. The head is not much larger than my hand. However, I wanted to put one in each of my vehicles and on my snowmobile and ATV in case of an emergency, and they are perfect for that application. They fold up into a tiny case - but appear to be well constructed of decent metal.
