Take the convenience, efficiency, and versatility of the household barbecue grill on the road this summer with the clever Roadtrip Grill LXE from Coleman. Whereas other portable liquid propane grills are petite and tabletop in design, the Roadtrip LXE is a full-size grill with collapsible scissor legs for countertops or travel. This 36-inch grill features 285 square inches of cooking space, ideal for toting to the beach or just into the driveway a small block party. Two 10,000 BTU burners cook meats evenly. Independent control knobs allow users to adjust temperatures on either burner for flexibility.

The grill comes equipped with two warp-resistant cast-iron grill grates, coated in porcelain for cleaning convenience. Two side tables attach to the grill's sides for extra preparation space and store neatly under the grill. A grease tray catches drippings, sliding out for cleaning. The grill is outfitted with an Instastart electronic ignition. The grill affixes to a standard 16.4-ounce disposable propane cylinder, or can be hooked up to a 20-pound tank with an additional accessory purchase. Burning on high with a propane cylinder, the grill operates for 2.1 hours, while low settings allow operation for up to 4.5 hours. A heavy-duty vitreous lid cased in painted steel contains flames to reduce hazard while barring access to bugs and debris. The collapsible legs feature two wheels on one end and a wide handle on the other for towing. To clean the cooking surface, use mild detergents and avoid steel wool. Coleman offers several interchangeable Roadtrip cooking surfaces, including a stovetop and griddle, for separate purchase. This grill requires assembly. Coleman offers a limited five-year warranty for this item. Collapsed, the grill measures 36 by 22 by 13 inches with a shipping weight of 60 pounds. Propane is not included. --Jessica Reuling

Customer Review: Not disappointed
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

Ordered for Xmas but couldn't wait to try it out. Coleman must have done some design changes as none of the negatives i had read were applicable to me. There was no warning concerning not cooking with the lid closed and in fact the book said to preheat on high with lid closed. Handles never even got warm. They felt more like aluminum than plastic as others reported. After preheat with lid closed on high for 10 minutes, I turned down to medium and cooked 2 nice size strip steaks only using 1/2 of the grill. Outback, eat your heart out! The grill marks were second to none. 5 minutes to sizzle on each side and then over for 1 minute each side for cross marks and finishing mine and over for another 3 minutes each side to finish for my wife. This is one nice grill for our RV and i took off wheels and used it as tabletop model as it will stay put here on the picnic table all winter in Florida. A Weber grill cover for 9.95 at Home depot fit just right for covering with side tables slid in. Sorry Coleman but at least you got my grill order. I likes the Coleman better because i like the additional BTU's for great searing.

Customer Review: Great portable grill
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

After doing a lot of research on small grills, I decided on this rather than the Weber Q. You have to pay 30% more for a comparable Weber Q and there are multiple posts on that grill about breakage during shipment or regulator issues.

The Coleman LXE was very simple to set up and uses the common propane tanks (unlike the Weber Q). It looks great and is very functional. Read the very useful post by "MiloPickle" - this grill gets very hot easily. You only need to go between low or medium (there is a click halfway) to grill, otherwise you may burn your food. At this level, you can close the lid no problem.

Others have reported that the lid doesn't close well - the lock doesn't just drop right into the hole, you have to push it inward just slight, but it stays nicely in the locked position when wheeling it around.

No complaints, I would recommend this grill if you want a small grill that doesn't take up a lot of space, and is portable. Small is relative -I grilled 6 burgers and 5 brats at the same time, and could have fit more brats.

Customer Review: Great for Camping
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

My husband and I had been debating for a while on which portable grill to buy. After comparing all the customer reviews (manufacturer reviews never give the whole picture) We decided on the Roadtrip LXE. On the first camping trip we took, it worked out great. We were able to cook omlets and make a pot of coffee with the griddle and stove accesories in the morning then turn around in the evening and make 12 ears of corn then cooked 10 steaks on the grill for our group for dinner all on one small tank of propane. I had seen how big it was and I was worried if I would be able to lift it by myself, but I was able to without a problem. I did make sure to read the manual carefully before our first use and it does say to not cook with the top down. We did anyways (on low heat) and didn't have an incident. We did do some pre-prep work to make clean up a little easier. We lined the bottom and the drip pan with foil and sprayed everything down with Pam before we started. Every thing turned out great and it exceeded our expectations. We are very happy with the grill.

Customer Review: Great portable gas grill....with a bit of good sense.

Everyone should read the review from Milopickle on April, 2009. He is absolutely right! NEVER OPERATE THIS GRILL ON HIGH! Just like him, I'm a Weber man with a great deal of experience, but I couldn't bring myself to pay for a Weber Q.
I got this grill just before New Year's weekend, and took it to the local mountain cabin we rented. We cooked up the typical fare...hamburgers, dogs, and hot links. I used the grill with the burners operating on medium-low (closer to low) for the entire evening....in 22 degrees F weather with snow all around! There was plenty of heat at that setting. This little grill puts a whopping 20k BTU's for it's size! There is no need to cook on high! Besides...operating on low, the bottle will last approximately 4.5 hours!

I am very satisfied with the purpose of this portable grill, and recommend it with a word of grilling wisdom...keep the heat range to a sensable level! Besides...you don't want to end with burnt on the outside, and raw on the inside. :-)

Customer Review: Awesome Grill
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

I am really blown away at some of the other reviews dissing this grill. We have owned this model for over 3 yrs and have never been happier with a grill, we tailgate, camp and use this as our primary home grill. My only complaint is that after 3 yrs the interior bottom rusted through eventhough its stored under cover in the winter months.

We have preheated with the lid closed, cooked items with the lid closed, but people have to use common sense and not grill on high and close the lid. We also made sure both side shelves were pulled out. Of course any grease catcher will catch fire if you aren't on the ball enough to empty it. We have experienced no other issues aside from the interior bottom rusting through... lined with foil we can still use it safely. Once has to wonder if the negative reviews are from coleman competetors. Buy it you won't be dissappointed. Im ordering another for hubby for Christmas
