Take the convenience, efficiency, and versatility of the household barbecue grill on the road this summer with the clever Roadtrip Grill LXE from Coleman. Whereas other portable liquid propane grills are petite and tabletop in design, the Roadtrip LXE is a full-size grill with collapsible scissor legs for countertops or travel. This 36-inch grill features 285 square inches of cooking space, ideal for toting to the beach or just into the driveway a small block party. Two 10,000 BTU burners cook meats evenly. Independent control knobs allow users to adjust temperatures on either burner for flexibility.

The grill comes equipped with two warp-resistant cast-iron grill grates, coated in porcelain for cleaning convenience. Two side tables attach to the grill's sides for extra preparation space and store neatly under the grill. A grease tray catches drippings, sliding out for cleaning. The grill is outfitted with an Instastart electronic ignition. The grill affixes to a standard 16.4-ounce disposable propane cylinder, or can be hooked up to a 20-pound tank with an additional accessory purchase. Burning on high with a propane cylinder, the grill operates for 2.1 hours, while low settings allow operation for up to 4.5 hours. A heavy-duty vitreous lid cased in painted steel contains flames to reduce hazard while barring access to bugs and debris. The collapsible legs feature two wheels on one end and a wide handle on the other for towing. To clean the cooking surface, use mild detergents and avoid steel wool. Coleman offers several interchangeable Roadtrip cooking surfaces, including a stovetop and griddle, for separate purchase. This grill requires assembly. Coleman offers a limited five-year warranty for this item. Collapsed, the grill measures 36 by 22 by 13 inches with a shipping weight of 60 pounds. Propane is not included. --Jessica Reuling

Customer Review: GREAT GRILL BUT MISLEADING DESCRIPTION
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

Amazon's product description indicated that it came with 3 surfaces, grill, griddle and stove. That's what I expected to receive but only got the grill. When I complained to the(foreign) customer service rep (3 times) I got a loop of scripted, "Sorry, you can send it back." rather than making good on their offer to include the rest of the product. Otherwise, you can buy it anywhere for the same price. About $50 more for the other surfaces!

Now, as for the grill, it takes some getting used to. It's HOT!! Just like a caste iron skillet, you need to season the grates (Oil and bake on low heat) or you will have a lot of sticking, even with Pam, until it gets broken in.

I was vexed by the greasy mess left after each use on all of those shiny chrome surfaces and the grates themselves. Tedious clean-up, which takes the fun out of grilling, so first I lined the underpan (and table surfaces)with foil (leaving the drain hole open). Then laid a bed of brickets around the burners. The brickets closest to the flame will ignite imparting a more authentic smell and flavor. The brickets also asorb the spatters. You might prefer lava rocks. Splash a little water on the partially burnt coals to extinguish to save for next time. Now it's a grate grill (pun intended) and you don't need those other surfaces anyway!

Customer Review: Road Trip LXE Coleman Grill

After a lot of research, including reading the reviews on this site, I selected this grill as a Father's Day present. I am glad I did. After 6 tailgates this fall, I would recommend this grill with some comments:

The negative review saying you cannot grill with the top down is wrong -- as one of the reviewers made very clear: NEVER GRILL ON HIGH. Put the temp on medium, and you can close the lid with no problem.

I bought the stovetop grid and the griddle from Amazon. Used the griddle for sausages and hashbrowns. Made eggs in a cast iron pan on the stove grate. Did burgers, sausages and chicken on the grill grates. Everything came out great.

Get the rollable storage bag. you have to take the hendle off of the LXE after you put it in the bag in order to close it. I just put the handle in the mesh pouch on the front.

The propane adapter for full size propane tanks is a great idea. but I did six tailgates on three small propane canisters.

Easy to use. Cleans up easy (I covered the bottom with foil and cut out around the burners). Put the grids in foil to bring home -- used oven cleaner in the laundry tub overnight.

Very, very pleased with this product.

Customer Review: Can't beat it for the price.

We have a huge Stainless Steel grill on our patio but living in northeast Ohio that one is snowed in every winter. So we bought this little grill to use just outside of the garage and for tailgating. I have to say that I was really surprised with just how good this grill is. Both the build quality and cooking quality are excellent. I spray Pam on the grates before cooking while they are in the grill so it will also spray through on to the chrome drip pan under the grates. I also lightly coat the underside of the lid every now and then. This makes clean up a breeze. One complaint I saw is that you can't grill with the lid closed, well that is just not true. I grill with the lid closed every time and have had no problems whatsoever (nothing has melted). The instructions and warning labels only state that you should have the lid open when you light the grill. After all, this same grille is available in the "Paul Jr." model with a thermostat on the lid. That thermostat wouldn't do you much good with the lid open would it? I know we are going to be taking this little grill everywhere and I recommend it to everyone looking for a small portable grilling machine.

Customer Review: Many Uses and Cheaper Accessories
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

We purchased this grill as a gift for my husband. He was looking for a smaller grill as we have a large one already. This is perfect! Not only was it the right size but it's portability made it even better. We also purchased the Coleman RoadTrip® Cast-Iron Griddle which is great to cook fish, steak and cheese, grilled cheese, or anything that might fall through the regular grill.
As we were planning to leave this standing much of the time near our pool the bag for it was unnecessary. The cover offered on here would have worked, but was a bit pricey. Instead we found that a simple kettle grill cover from Wal-Mart for under $10 fits PERFECTLY! We also found it much more economical to purchase a hose w/ fittings from Lowes and connect the grill directly to a large propane tank. No need to worry about smaller tanks running out if you're going to use it in one place much.
Having used the grill several times now we are completely sold. As for a small portable gas grill it is perfect since it stands up, not table top. Also the gril rarely flames up and the grill plates wash excellently, even in the dishwasher.
We highly recommend!

Customer Review: Love it!

We've been going cheap for a few years now, getting little travel/table top grills that we have to replace each year. We've always done charcoal (you can get some REALLY cheap charcoal grills#, but our new apartment has a small deck #not much space) and charcoal is not allowed.

Now -- we have one that travels easily (like our old, cheap charcoals), that we can use over again, and fits perfectly on our small deck. We looked and looked, and were about to pounce on the Weber Q, but this was way cheaper.

Even though you can't cook with the lid closed, it doesn't matter. Our food has always come out perfectly juicy and full of flavor all the way through - never over-dried. We've only had it for a few months, but have done kabobs, chicken and steak. Each meal came out incredible!

The Road Trip Grill is the perfect balance of cooking capability, portability, sturdy design, easy cleanup, and the price is right! And I'm in love with the fact that it's RED!

Oh yeah, and it has little table tops that slide in and out. So it's handy, too! There's just nothing that compares!
