It operates on 4 D batteries (not included), running for up to 23 hours on Low and 14 hours on High. Bulb replacement is a snap, thanks to the quick-release system. The Lantern's rugged design is weather-resistant and shatter-resistant, including a non-slip, rubberized handle for comfortable carrying, and heavy-duty thermoplastic and rubber construction so it stands up to heavy use in the outdoors. I bough this lantern when I was living in Florida and suffered a bunch of power outages. It it light, real bright, and it works great. The batteries last long.
This is a good lantern to have to be able to go around the house, read a little, cook a sandwish... This lantern really fit the bill for an emergency light.

This personal sized coleman is perfect for an electrical outage or camping. It's nice to have a safe alternative to kerosene. Just keep D sized batteries on hand and you are ready to go! We took these lanterns on our camping trip this past weekend and they worked admirably. I was concerned that I may have chosen the wrong size however two of these worked admirably for our needs. We purchased this after reading previous good reports and finally got to use it after a storm knocked out power for about 8 hours. I used it to read by and was glad we had bought a couple of these lanterns. Picked this lantern up to have as backup lighting in the house when power goes off and to use when camping or for other outside uses. Used it for camping and found it to be perfect light for in the camper or outside next to the grill. Highly recommend.
