We had been looking for a new flashlight to use at the house and while on camping trips. After reading these reviews here and at other sites, we decided to purchase two of them. Lets start by saying they are very bright. Matter of fact, I would have to say they are brighter than all the others I have used with the exception of those 2 Million Candle powered units. I think the 4 D batteries are heavier than the unit itself. We enjoy having the ability to just sit it on a table and use the side light at our camping table. We hike quite a bit after sundown and needed a flashlight that would provide enough light to light our paths. It took alittle time to figure out the battery installation, but I had to read the manual twice to make sure. It does have a cushioned head on it in case of dropping it, but if it did fall, my guess would be that the bulb would be breaking long before the case itself as it appears to be very well made. 3 year warranty on top of it all and only $ 18 dollars at the time of my purchase.

The WideBeam's Xenon blue-tipped bulb provides a whiter light, for greater visibility. The light's flat surface base allows you to stand the Flashlight upright, for hands-free area lighting. The soft rubber handle makes it easy to carry, and the shock-absorbing head means it will withstand heavy use. The Dual Action WideBeam Flashlight runs on 4 D-cell batteries (not included). Limited 3-year warranty.The Coleman 5308-700 Widebeam 4D Dual-action Flashlight provides a bright, portable light for any occasion. This dual-action flashlight has a regular path light that gives you a center-spot of light with a softer perimeter of light, plus a seven-watt U-tube fluorescent area light to brighten a work area. The Coleman Widebeam also has a flat surface base which allows the light to stand up-right when using the area lighting function.
