I had the ghost ring attached to one of my bags and at some point the metal clasp that opens did just that. Only it opened sideways somehow allowing the entire ghost ring to separate. I didn't notice it was gone until later. And later was when I wanted to attach a bottle of water only to find nothing to attach it to. so I never got a chance to see if it worked or not.
