Description of Cho-Pat Dual Action Knee Strap - Black Medium 14-16"Cho-Pat's newly patented Dual Action Knee Strap provides an extra dimension of relief for painful and weakened knees. The strap applies pressure upon the patellar tendon below the kneecap to stabilize and tighten up the kneecap mechanism, which improves patellar tracking and elevation and reduces patellar subluxation. It adds further strengthening to the kneecap mechanism by applying pressure on the tendon above the kneecap as well. This tends to reduce the forces of the quadriceps on the patella tendon and erosion of the undersurface of the kneecap due to a possible misalignment of the quadriceps (Q angle). The device's design and construction apply constant dynamic forces to the surrounding areas of the knee reducing the likelihood of overuse syndromes. At the same time, the strap allows for full mobility while providing maximum benefits. Sizing: Measure Circumference at Mid-Kneecap Note: If you are between sizes, we suggest you order the smaller size. For the Shin Splint Compression Sleeve and all the Knitted Compression devices, we suggest ordering a size larger.

I lost my first one of these so I immediately ordered one for each knee. They protect the knees really when running!!!

Performed well at eliminating knee pain when I exercised.
Especially effective when doing squats.
Customer Review: Overall a great value Sport shop rating: 4 Stars
I bought this because I have patellar tendonitis from running/jumping on concrete for too many years and the single band McDavid strap I use only offers minimal relief. [Young people: do NOT exercise on concrete if you can't help it. Work out in a gym, even if it's a financial sacrifice for you. When you're 43 years old you will be glad you did, trust me].
Quality is GREAT for $17. Double stitching, nice thick neoprene. Actually the neoprene might be a bit too thick because it wrinkles on the back of the knee and creates a crease and that crease pinches my skin. Nothing major, but a small annoyance. Velcro is also double stitched and looks like it will last a long time.
Sizing: I ordered a medium and it's STILL a little too big for my knee if I pull the straps all the way. I would say to order one size smaller than you measure to get a perfect fit without a lot of strap overlap. Otherwise the straps pull tight and secure the knee pretty well.
Performance is very good. Overall it works as advertised and it has relieved the pain in my patellar tendon by as much as 40 to 50%, The pain is not gone completely, but it is definitely diminished when I am wearing this. It also stabilizes my knee when my leg is off the ground (striding) in that my kneecap doesn't feel as "loose" (or "wobbly"). The added stability gives me confidence to play bball harder, and put more weight on my leg whereas before I was being very ginger with it
In terms of comfort it is not perfect because it pinches my skin slightly in the back AND compresses a ligament on the inside back of my knee. Ouch. Seems like Cho-Pat could make it more comfortable in the back part. Otherwise it will do for now and offers a marked improvement over the single band I was using before
Customer Review: Cho-Pat pain reliever Sport shop rating: 4 Stars
What can I say, it works. I was pretty active as a kid, abused the hell out of my knees with skateboards, waterskis, snowskis, running, surfing, bicycle, motorcycle, and anything else I could think of. Wound up with severe Osgood Schlatter's, had the leg in a cast, the doc wanted to put a pin in my knee to hold it together. As an adult working retail, I'm on my feet all day and my knee just screams, I've been limping for a while now. Heard about the Cho-Pat, looked it up, Amazon had a better price than even the manufacturer's site. Didn't know if it would work, but within 20 minutes of putting it on, I noticed a dramatic reduction in pain. The more I wear it, the better my knee feels, even when I'm not wearing it, the next morning when I wake up, etc. Got on the bike the other day and went out for ten miles with it on, no pain, even on hard downstrokes going uphill. It's kind of scary, within a matter of days, it's become almost as essential as my cell phone. Before doing anything, I'm frantically looking around, "Where's my Cho-Pat?! Must have my Cho-Pat!" It might not work for everyone, but I wish I'd ordered one years ago.
Customer Review: Stabilized knee Sport shop rating: 4 Stars
I was waiting to see an orthopedic surgeon and in the mean time my knee, leg, hip and back were hurting so much I could barely walk. The muscle behind knee was in a knot. I had to do something for relief. I was using a brace that covered the whole knee except for a small circle in the front and it helped minimally. I decided to try this brace since it wasn't so restrictive. The elastic fabric behind the knee gave a massaging effect to the muscle in the back of the knee and the bands above and below the knee stabilized the knee. I finally saw the orthopedic surgeon and he diagnosed my problem as a torn cartilage. Surgery is still a month away but this knee brace has made my knee pain tolerable. The surgeon asked me if the brace works for me, I should wear it. None of the doctors I saw suggested anything for relief except pain meds and surgery. The only problem I have with the brace is that the bands are a little abrasive to my skin. Note: This brace does not correct the torn cartilage. It needs to be repaired but its giving me relief while I wait on surgery.
