I've used several other lighted magnifiers but never had one that improves my view for reading as well as this one. The angle of the lighting is great. I'm learning Hebrew and now have no trouble seeing points around the characters even when the print is not so clear. Note that this one uses 3 button style batteries (like the ones that go in watches). Most drug stores carry them, butt might be best to keep an extra set on hand to be sure of having the ones you need.Customer Review: Great Tool for Diabetic with Failing eye sight

For someone with an issue with failing eyesight due to diabetes. Glasses only work so well at this stage and this magnifying glass really fits the bill for any reading to be done. The incorporated light is a great feature and the size makes it so easy to carry around. The rectangular shape makes reading across a whole page without moving the glass possible which is so much better than a regular spyglass type magnifier. Wonderful Tool.

I bought a few of these for people in our church with vision problems. They have trouble seeing the bulletin and hymnal when the lighting was dim during worship services. Marge, the first to try the lighted magnifier, was so happy with it. She raved about it at the end of the service. It seemed she had no trouble turning the switch on and off after a quick lesson. It's the right shape, so no wasted lens at the top and bottom means lower weight/(reading area) ratio. It's a good enough lens as well. Given that it's the most portable magnifier of this size with a real (non-fresnel) lens that I've come across, a case would've been nice...
I don't use the light, so can't comment on that.

I bought this for my husband to help with reading small print in an old book. He had recently ordered one of those full page magnifiers. Both items arrived the same day however the Carson Optical Magnifier proved to be far superior! He loves it and chooses this device over all other magnifiers he has accumulated. Kudos!
