Large high quality acrylic lens safe for children. The large field of view is good for introducing children to the microworld. The magnifying power is low, only 2X. For nature investigations, the large view and arm length focal length is an advantage. I suggest that this be used to collect specimens for higher magnification, like loupe or microscope. I bought 15 for a class and I think kids were impressed by its size. Adults get better magnification than children, because of longer focal length from aging. This size magnifier with handle is just great. It seems to be lightweight enough to hold for awhile without getting weary holding it & it covers an area so much better than the one I have been using,which is about 3" x 3". I also have one of the 8" x 10" but you have to hold it up & away from the page & without a handle, it is awkward. So I am glad I ordered this.Customer Review: Better than hoped

Just received ours today and we have just ordered two more, to be placed around the house. Attractive green vinyl on handle and around the lens. Nice heft. And the wide field of view is wonderful. This magnifying glass does a great job of enlarging the small print or pictures! It is big enough to show a big space; so, you do not have to constantly move it around. I wish I had ordered another one.
