Sports reviews of Captains of Crush Hand Gripper - TrainerCustomer Review: Big help in MMA and Wrestling Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I have been training my grip for 20 years 225 to 315lb wrist curls etc. and I have to tell you this #2 gave me a good run for my money. I was going to go right to #3 but #2 is humbling if you can close #2 you know what I'm talking about. Straight out of the box I closed it once. Great addition to your forearm and grip training routine. I would try the Trainer or #1 or #1 1/2 unless you want a little shock go right for #2 or #3. #3 I will be trying but for now I train on the #2. Works as a good benchmark to let you know where your "crushing" grip strength lays. I'll be updating this. Anyone try the HG grips and how do they compare ? Saw the HG500 looked very thick the coil.
Customer Review: It's a wonderful gripper for those who really want to improve forearm strength Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I've used cheaper grippers in the past, and I can tell that I have a superior product when I use a Captains of Crush (CoC) gripper. Some have commented that the gripper's handles are too rough, but I disagree. Smoother handles would be dangerous, as the gripper could slip from your grasp and cause injury to others as it flies through the air, or more likely it would injure your hand through the sudden, unexpected release of pressure. When you're dealing with that much force, you need to be sure your gripper will remain in place.
Admittedly the gripper is pricey when compared to other grippers, but it's well worth the cost.
Customer Review: Should've got the #1... Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
Well, I just got interested in grip strength and was tempted to start with the #1. After reading the reviews here, I decided to go with the trainer before. I've never trained my grip strength before and figured that was the wise choice. Well, the trainer arrived today, and I eagerly ripped open the packaging like a kid on Christmas and went to work. I fired off 30 reps closing completely right away. Should have listened to my instincts and gone with the #1. So I'll get that one next. These things are of amazing quality and feel really solid. If you're a big guy like me (200 lbs+) and strength train seriously you'll want to skip the trainer.
Customer Review: but... Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
This gripper is sweet, no doubt. But... don't listen to reviews saying how hard the Trainer is. If you do any weight training, I suggest starting with the #1. The first time I squeezed it it seemed fairly hard. I have had the Trainer for 1 week, and I do three sets, three times a week. The last time I used it (after 1 week) I did 32 reps, 22 reps then 21 reps. I have WAY maxed this thing out and need much heavier grips. Other than picking the wrong one to start with (due to some of the reviews seen here) it is exactly what I thought it should be.
Happy training.
Customer Review: Superb, High Quality Gripper Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I have been researching various grippers lately, and I came across the Captain of Crush grippers. I liked the idea of various levels of gripping strength and decided to give the Trainer a start. Now providing that 1 repetition is closing the gripper all the way to where the ends are touching, this is quite tough! I would advise those who do not reguarly work out with grippers or weight training to start with the Trainer. The handle is longer and rougher than most sports store grippers, but it's of high quality and your hands won't slip from sweat.
Great Buy!
