Customer Review: I will crush you
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

These grippers are for real ... yo.

I've been training with grippers and what not my whole life.

I've always kept a set of grippers on my desk, usually to burn a little energy during the long tense work days.

My sis purchased me the #1's off my wish list whilst I was convalescing from surgery.

What a great gift. For the most part, this site is rotten with books. Books, books, everywhere you look. Newsflash, how you gonna turn the pages of a book if you're a weak little birdie?

I'm not looking to win any contests or get caught get up in any grip strength hype, but these babies rock. Hardcore US Steel construction, high quality, and tough as nails. Squeeze 'em 'til yer eyes pop (well, maybe you should talk to doctor about that first, and tell your lawyer that was hyperbole . . . HYPERBOLE).

These are serious grippers. They'll make you strong and manly (less you're looking to be a dainty lil' girlie with mitts of steel, but you get my point).

Get some Captains of Crush. I love them.

Customer Review: Excellent quality
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

I've been weight training for 14 years and never invested time to strength-train my hands specifically until a couple of years ago. I still had one of those typical black-handled grippers from my years in middle school and worked that much too easily. Although it did actually increase gripping power, I knew I needed to upgrade my training apparatus. After receiving the #1 gripper, I was immediately impressed by the quality construction and level of strength necessary to close just this mid-level device from Iron Mind. Because of the rather harsh knurling, I wrapped the bar I place under my four fingers with tape. I still use my easy gripper for repetitions to improve endurance and tolerance for that "burn," then go to the Iron Mind #1 for some strength-building sets. Also, I enjoy squeezing the #1 and simply holding it in a closed position for 10-30 seconds, simply maintaining focus and squeezing with more strength with each passing second. Afterwards, I may go to the light gripper and crush that thing for maybe another 50. Try it! I will order the #2 very soon.

Customer Review: The beginner's goal.
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

I can barely close this one for one rep. And their are still 6 grippers higher then this one so I'm excited to see how far I can get my grip. #2 gripper is my goal for now so I'll decide if I want to level off or keep going when I get there. I would suggest getting this along side the "Trainer" and if you have been doing some grip work already either by training or work you may be able to do this gripper from the beginning. However this is as far as most people can go starting out.

Quality. Good. I don't expect these things to break anytime soon, they appear very solid.

TIP: The grip WILL callous your hand hands if you have smooth hands. If for whatever reason that is your own you don't want callous here is what I did.

Someone suggested using bandage tape, but I found overhand grip wrapping to be great (used on the handle of a tennis racket). These will stop your hands from getting any callous but you still have to do all the work. "Microzorb or Tourna Grip Tennis Overgrip" I use Tourna but either should be fine.

Customer Review: This thing is serious
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

Just got this delivered today. Got the Trainer a few days ago and could do about 30 reps on it, so I ordered the #1 immediately, figuring it would give me a better workout. It sure does. Took it out of the package and went to work - can only do 5 reps with the right hand and allllmost 1 rep with the left.

These grippers are solid, made to last, and offer all the resistance you could want. The grips are textured somewhere between a barbell grip and a fine shop file. Some report that the grip is too rough and give callouses easily but if you work with your hands or do exercise that requires grip (weightlifting, rowing, etc.) then this should be no big deal.

My only minor complaint is that my #1 came with a squeak. The trainer was smooth and quiet, though, so I figure I'll put a little WD-40 on the #1 later.

In short, if you want to work your grip the same way you work the rest of your muscle groups, get a CoC. I plan on using the trainer for warmups and the 1 for work sets (negatives and partials for the left hand).

Customer Review: Great Gripper
Sport shop rating: 5 Stars

When I first started I got the trainer and I really liked. However, it was still very easy for me, so I bougt the number 1 gripper. This is a great gripper and very few people in my hs managed to close it when I was still in school. It a great quality gripper, very durable..some say the grip is tough on your hands...well it is if you buy one that is too weak..let me explain if you use the trainer and have to do 2 or 3 hundred reps before you max out like I was youll get some dry hands and maybe callouses(if youve never worked hard physically in your life). However, I'd recommend starting out with the trainer for most people so you have something for your non-dominat hand and a number 1.....I know had the trainer, #1, #2, #3 and the number 2 is pretty easy for me now, though im still a half inch away from closing the number 3, but then again I never really trained my grip all that much......

Overall, buy the damn gripper and you'll be hooked.
