This thing is hard to close period. I bench 220, shoulder press 180, saw 80 lbs for reps of 10 per arm. I can do pull ups on a 1/4 '' ledge. And no I couldn't close this thing on the first try. Keep in mind im 150. 1 week later I can though.

I cannot recommend these items enough for the development of grip strength--the most important type of strength for martial artists, and important for everyone. My only complaint is the gigantic gap in resistances between the various models.

A great product for anyone who is serious about weight training. Grip strength can be often overlooked but is essential to most of your pulling exercises.

I'm happy to have graduated to this gripper from the trainer. This is now my working gripper, and I'm pushing to close the #2. This gripper is serious. If you're serious, you should probably get this.
