Bisphenol-A is an ingredient used to make polycarbonate. In recent months, there has been increasing consumer demand for a bottle that is not made with Bisphenol-A (BPA), and CamelBak is proud to introduce BPA-free bottles with the same great properties customers have come to expect from polycarbonate: vibrant color, clarity, durability, dishwasher-safe, and with no residual taste. As of the end of April 2008, the entire CamelBak bottle line will be available in BPA-Free materials in North America.
What are phthalates?
Phthalates (pronounced thal-ates) are a component added to some plastics to make them soft and pliable. None of CamelBak's bottles have ever contained phthalates.
What is the BPA-free Better Bottle made from?
The CamelBak Better Bottle line is made from a new copolyester polymer called Tritan, made by Eastman. It offers the same great qualities that we have come to expect from polycarbonate bottles and is 100 percent BPA-Free. The Big Bite Valve is made of medical-grade silicone for long life and taste-free performance.

I bought this water bottle from Amazon a few weeks ago after researching and reading all the good (and few bad) reviews. After continuous use, I must say this is a damn good bottle! The color (berry) is vibrant, the plastic quality is nice, and the 0.5L size is perfect to throw in my purse and carry with me all day. And if you drink as much water as I do, the $10 investment is well worth it. It takes about 30 seconds to learn to control the waterflow from the bite valve, and best of all, the bottle does not leak!
I was concerned about mold in the bite valve after reading about it, however, my suspicion is that this may occur if the bottle and valve are not regularly washed. I've had no such issues since owning the bottle and wash the bottle and valve every few days after daily and continous use.

I have a Sigg, Nalgene, and CamelBak bottle and I love the CamelBak so much more than the others. If you are trying to drink more water throughout the day, CamelBak bottles with the flip nozzle for easy access is the way to go. I am sometime too lazy to get a drink of water at home because I know it will take that extra time of unscrewing the cap, getting a drink, and then screwing the cap back on. With the CamelBak, simply flip the nozzle up, drink, done! I use dish soap to clean mine and it seems to work fine. I saw that one guy's major complaint was that you had to use tablets to get it clean. I believe all bottle manufacturers put that in the directions to cover their tails. I've had my CamelBak for two years and have never used a tablet to clean it. Make the right decision and go with the CamelBak.Customer Review: Great bottle

I love this bottle. I had bought a better bottle at TJMaxx with the classic cap for $4 and was hoping to be able to find the cap with the straw and bite valve for sale without having to buy another bottle but couldn't find one so I decided to order a new bottle with the bite valve cap from here. So now I have two bottles that the nice cap will fit on and can take the other bottle with the classic cap with me as a spare while hiking. I find the bite valve so much easier to use while on the treadmill at the gym than the classic cap because I would always spill it when tipping it to drink from the bottle, I am just not cordinated enough to drink and walk I guess. I will definitely be buying other CamelBak items in the future. Glad this bottle was cheaper here than at the sporting goods stores.Customer Review: Good compliment to college life!

I've been looking for a good reusable water bottle and FINALLY found it. I used to drink alot more water during the summer, but going to class, work, and the gym has made it very difficult for me to drink that 64 ounces a day. Having the Camelbak has changed all that. It's so easy to grab the loop by one of my free fingers and head out the door at the last minute. It's actually fun to drink from too! I thought I'd never be writing a review on a water bottle, but it's flippin' sweet! I've been fighting my girlfriend to get to use it so much I had to buy her one as well. Best investment ever :) Haven't had it long enough to test its durability, but it seems very sturdy and well-made. Already recommended it to my mom and she's planning on getting her one as well!Customer Review: passed my leakproof test.

this bottle passed the leak-proof test in my lunchbox.Dead On Tools DO-300 Killer Chiller Mobile Cooler/Lunch box, Black I bought other water bottles that ended up leaking, but these bottles definitely don't leak. I bought about 10 of these bottles in different sizes and colors since. My personal favorite is the gray colored one liter with the bite valve. the main reason the bottle has a bite valve is so the bottle doesn't leak when turned sideways. also, the little doodad at the top is a handle that you wrap your pointer finger around. I do receive a lot of compliments on this bottle. it's kind of strange to admit that you get compliments on a water bottle though.
