The Better Bottle with Big Bite Valve makes it easy to hydrate on the go. | What is BPA? Bisphenol-A is an ingredient used to make polycarbonate. In recent months, there has been increasing consumer demand for a bottle that is not made with Bisphenol-A (BPA), and CamelBak is proud to introduce BPA-free bottles with the same great properties customers have come to expect from polycarbonate: vibrant color, clarity, durability, dishwasher-safe, and with no residual taste. As of the end of April 2008, the entire CamelBak bottle line will be available in BPA-Free materials in North America. What are phthalates? Phthalates (pronounced thal-ates) are a component added to some plastics to make them soft and pliable. None of CamelBak's bottles have ever contained phthalates. What is the BPA-free Better Bottle made from? The CamelBak Better Bottle line is made from a new copolyester polymer called Tritan, made by Eastman. It offers the same great qualities that we have come to expect from polycarbonate bottles and is 100 percent BPA-Free. The Big Bite Valve is made of medical-grade silicone for long life and taste-free performance. About CamelBak CamelBak is the originator and world leader in hands-free hydration systems. Since then, athletes from an ever-growing list of sports and activities use CamelBak hydration systems for their convenience and performance benefits. In addition to cycling, CamelBak has Hands-Free Hydration systems for hiking, running, snowboarding and skiing. Sports reviews of CamelBak BPA-Free Better Bottle with Bite ValveCustomer Review: Great water bottles, do not make great dog toys! Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my husband as I have one and love it and he was ready to join the BPA-free craze. I wrapped it up and put it under the tree with the rest of the gifts (like all things Amazon, the item arrived timely and packed perfectly). Two days later, however, our dog Bella decided that was the gift she was going to "open" for her daddy. She ripped off the paper and destroyed the lid. Shockingly, the bottle is still in great condition and I have ordered a replacement lid as I am too cheap (or stupid) to throw away the old bottle and just order another whole unit (although the cost is relatively small so it's a non-issue). So, a word to the wise... these are the best water bottles you will ever own (even my dog thinks so!)... just don't leave them where a dog with a plastic fetish might be able to snag them.
Customer Review: I Love It! Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I jokingly refer to my Camelbak as my "sippy cup." Even though it can leak if placed in the wrong position, it certainly isn't a big hassle. I tried a stainless steel water bottle and quickly returned to my Camelbak with its wonderful sippy seal. As some reviewers have commented, the ease of drinking provided by the straw encourages you to drink enough water each day. I does need to be cleaned regularly. My husband uses bleach to clean his. I have another method of cleaning mine. Soak it in hot soapy dish water and take a longed handle sponge and clean out the inside of the bottle itself and rinse in hot water. I also use a stir stick for drinks with a piece of paper towel wrapped around it to clean out the inside of the straw. Since BPA is very toxic, I also like that the new bottles are BPA free. Do yourself a favor and get a Camelbak.
Customer Review: Best bottle I have ever used! Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
I probably own 7 of these things, I'm in the Army and hydration is one of the most important things you can do. They are easy to carry, I use carbineers and the built in hook to attach it to my gear (backpack or vest, ect) I've never tasted anything funny, or had anything grow in my bottles, when ONLY water was left in the bottle. I have left water in bottle for at least 3 weeks and when I opened it and smelt it, it smelt like water, and I tasted it and it was fine. Though I have made the same mistake with other drinks... I don't know what I left in one of my bottle for an unknown length of time, but it smelt like death, and no matter what I did to it I cannot get the smell out of it, but they don't cost that much, so I just threw it away. All in all, I love these bottles! Just don't leave anything other than clean water in them!
Customer Review: a bottle of greatness! Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
i own several of these camelbak bottles! they seem undestructable and they are durable beyond belief! the ones i have owned, i have owned for a couple years now..they have been through many deployments to the deserts of iraq and afghanistan to many workout sessions at the gym to just using it as a household sip and go drink..it has withstand to great degree many washings and drying in my dish washer and still retains a new looks! the top takes the camelbak (back pack) style bite suck and sip feature and incorporated it into this bottle..you will never spill a drip! it has a small and short measuring lines on the side and some come with cool camelbak hyrdrate or die designs on the bottle as well..trust me this is a great water bottle amongst the best to take hiking, jogging, running, biking, camping, working out, or deploying
Customer Review: can even drink while lying down!! Sport shop rating: 5 Stars
This is the best water bottle ever!! I use this bottle every day! It's was so hard to find a 32oz water bottle with a straw that was BPA free, and I finally found one! It has a straw so it's the perfect water bottle for me when I go golfing (I always walk) or am drinking while in a hurry (which I usually am), cuz you can walk and drink at the same time and don't have to worry about spilling! It doesn't leak even after dropped, lying on it's side, or anything! And the bite down straw is the best part about it I can even drink while lying down! And I can drink hands free! I know it might seem a little weird to have that being the best part, but since I get thirsty a lot at night when I sleep I don't have to get up or anything, or put forth any effort to quench my thirst! It's way handy and durable, I love it!!
