Sports reviews of Bushnell Powerview 16x50 Binocular

Customer Review: From someone who knows nothing about binoculars!
Sport shop rating: 4 Stars

I was reading reviews on these binoculars, and I thought it would be nice to have a pair. All I know about binoculars is what 16x50 means. That's it. I love nature, so I love to look at things. I have spent about three days trying to "work" these binoculars, and I finally figured it out tonight! I gave them 4 stars because the carrying case and strap are not very good quality. I don't really like the cheap rubber-like lens caps. After a lot of use, I can see that they will be useless.

As for the binoculars, they are great. I can see things around the yard really close. Great for watching the birds!!! :) I also wanted to test them to see what I could see of the moon and stars. I figured out that if I turned the focus knob clockwise and push the square-looking thing in the middle with the right side pointing up--- you can see a very clear image of the moon. You CAN see the craters. I even looked at several constellations. I don't know many names specifically, but I could see all the stars from one that was hard to see with the naked eye. It was awesome!!! You really need to have steady hands to see well. My hands are pretty unsteady, but I could see enough to make me happy. I think a tripod or something for these would help.

Overall, I think this is a great pair of binoculars for the price. I'm glad I bought them. Just think of what you could do if you know how to use them! :)

Customer Review: Decent Binoculars, not good for birding
Sport shop rating: 4 Stars

I bought these binoculars to watch the birds in my backyard but failed to do sufficient pre-sale research. Their nearest focus point is probably 50ft and their magnification is generally higher than you would want. So they are ill suited for my intended use, but that is my fault, not Bushnells.

For viewing things further away they are fine. They seem rugged and very solid, though I haven't done much with them. I like the rubberized housing. The one general complaint I have is that the rocker focus mechanism has too much give in it. You can rock it for a few degrees before it actually starts doing any focusing.

Customer Review: Decent Binocular
Sport shop rating: 4 Stars

I had bought this bushnell binocular mainly for star gazing. It didn't help me that much on that. May be I had higher expectations on this item, since I'm a novice. I was expecting the order of magnification like I saw in TV cameras when they zoom in on moon during sports telecasts. But this item is still worth for the money. I could use this to see moon and Mars so far with decent magnification.

Only thing to make sure is hold a steady hand when using or use a tripod.

Focus tab is not really a hinder as others in the review had mentioned.

Customer Review: Good quality Binocular
Sport shop rating: 4 Stars

We live on a small lake. We always had a hard time seeing the birds and the trees when they change color (Autumn in New England) and the people in their boats.

I saw these binoculars and bought them at a discount. The focusing is simple and the optics are great.

They do tend to get a little jumpy because of the human being attempting to hold it steady.

The one thing I havent figured out is that the specs say "tripod adaptable"...

What does that mean ?

Overall though, a good, quality product.

Customer Review: Great product, flimsy attachments
Sport shop rating: 4 Stars

Love the binoculars just like everyone else. Only complaint is the flimsy attachments. The neck strap is impossible to attach and is obviously a piece of junk anyway so don't bother. I find it annoying that the lens covers aren't connected in some way. They pop off very easily. Just seems to me like something that could easily be prevented with better design. All things considered, these are really minor complaints. The purpose is to get great binoculars for a great price, and that I did. I would still highly recommend them.
