I primarily use binoculars for amateur astronomy. And, I am still quite new to the hobby-started in March 2010. I believe that these binoculars are great for beginners in skygazing. On an exceptionally clear night, and holding still, you can see Jupiter's moons. You'll definitely see Pleiades, Orion Nebula, Beehive Cluster, and Venus, to name a few.
I have several pairs of binoculars (including Bushnell 10x50) and after reading an astronomy site, I noticed that Nikon 16x50 was mentioned an awful lot. I decided to give them a try, and I didn't really see a difference between the Nikons and Bushnell, so, the Nikons went back in less than 24 hours, and I traded them here at Amazon for the 20x50s.
My strong advice to beginners is not to purchase a pair of high end binoculars at first, unless you have a dual purpose for them. Bushnell will pull through for you!

I wanted some binoculars for astronomical viewing that were a little more powerful than my 10x50's, but I didn't want to spend a lot of money. I settled on these, and have not been disappointed. Within it's range of magnification, it delivers good, well defined images of the moon and nearer planets. Jupiter's moons are quite visible on a clear night. Some astronomy buffs suggest an aperture of 70mm or more for binoculars, but if your object is to view nearby planets and not far away galaxy clusters or the outer planets, these should be fine.
It also offers clear and well defined landscape views in daylight. However they're not water or fog proof, a point to keep in mind if going hiking or camping. Also, your hand motion( as well as images you see)is magnified by 20x, so a tripod or stand is needed for best viewing results.
All in all, a good buy for the money.

After surfing the net, growing wearing of gartantuan price increases, what a thrill it was to discover the bargain of bargains, top quality, instantly available, gently used Bushnell Powerview Binocs, a perfect example of the type of bargain that Amazon dot com continues to offer the discriminating and careful shopper.
Not only is my purchase a bargain, but also the quality of the merchandise is top of the line, just what I've grown to expect from my Amazon purchases. The binocs are easy to focus, spot-on in focus (you could pick a flea off the back of a rhino at 50 paces) and child-easy simple in its user's technique. What fun it is to get exactly what was described! The only surprise for this jaundiced shopper is that the merchandise is precisely what I hoped for and expect.

Folks for the price and even with the strap the product it comes with it is a very good deal. I don't know about how water proof or resistant it is yet so keep that in mind. The product is fully rubber coated and have knurled areas where your hands will normally hold. The clarity and zoom are very good. You will easily focus your right eye to match your eye site with your left by adjusting your right eye by a ring focus such as like focusing a microscope. The product looks and feels durable. This pair of binoculars was a Christmas gift to my husband. He was thrilled when he opened the gift and has been 100% satisfied with them. We live on in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and have quite a view from our house. He has been able to see quite a distance with his new binoculars and is enjoying being able to view and identify up close what he has previously only been able to view in the distance. I was also very pleased with the shipping arrangements. The binoculars arrive right on schedule, as indicated by Amazon, and in plenty of time for Christmas.
